yeah - you can't use a jpg file for the boot screens, I believe it has to be 8 bit bmp....but don't quite me on that. I just know you can't use jpg....

I haven't attempted this yet as I've been trying to achieve bitperfect first...so I'm by far no expert.

However, there was a thread floating around here earlier where a guy pretty much outlined exactly how to do this....

oh yeah and as far as hibernation and return from.... kinda complicated.... you need to change bitmap 2 and bitmap 5 with reshacker in the ntoskrnl.exe file. i dont suggest this because you really are changeing the opeerating system instead of just modding it slightly. as for the returning from hibernation...you need a good hex code changer and all you can do is change the text...(returning from hibernation) since there is no bitmap associated with this.... as for me in depth sorry i cant be of help a good long on might be successful.... i love emoticons!... oh and sorry for the spelling typing really fast right now and dont feel like proofreading.

It was friggin HUGE!
I PM'd him and asked him to resize it to a manageable size.
It was some ungodly large resolution and was screwing with the forum layout.

I know it was friggin huge.

I couldn't make out anything about with the 800x600 screen I had at the time. And by the time I saw the thread on this PC, it had gone.

So what the cluck was it a picture of?

It was simply a picture that said Baja in red script letters and had a quote in the bottom right corner. Running at 1024x768 I had to scroll around to see it all. Its dimensions were something like 3400x2200 which is way overkill for a bootscreen which (I think) doesn't need to be more than 800x600.
