VIA EPIA EN1500 problems with Video

Dear CarPC Users,

I have bought a VIA EPIA EN1500 motherboard with CPU on it, but i have problems with playing standard .AVI files in windows also in Roadrunner, my boss who had a different motherboard not from Via by the way said it is a driver problem.

All the drivers are installed correctly i Nlite Windows and everything except the playing of .Avi files from a Canon Ixux50 on my carpc. It`s play perfect on my laptop.

Does anywhone have a idea what this problem could be?? I have a:
VIA EPIA EN1500 with 1024 MB DDR 533 mhz Memory and a M1-ATX power supply.

Kind Regargds,

Erwin Kooij from the netherlands

The codec for the video working great, only the sound is like a very fast speeking person, is totaly not synchronous with the video. I tried some fuetures in FFDSHOW but without succes.

Somebody any idea about it?

Kind Regards,

Erwin Kooij

AVi files can have any number of codecs, unlike other file format extensions AVI does not denote a specific encoder but its a shell, a kind of container for multiple types of files from various encoders/codecs. This means that you could have any number of major or proprietary encoded files and my best suggestion for finding out is checking with your camera's manufacturer, better yet hit up a cannon forum and find out from other users (because they will probably already have the info posted somewhere) what codec it uses. It is also very possible canon has the codec for you to download for free on their site.

Aside from that, for your car, I would try and avoid installing big codec packs like the one suggested before, get a few specific codecs installed, and leave the rest for programs like VLC or BSplayer(both are free to download and small ). Both BSPlayer and VLC have the codecs built in, and VLC especially is great because it is very simplistic, and can be obtained in a portable version (that can be run off of a thumb drive for all of you thumb drive booters) at www.portableapps.com it will play just about anything you throw at it.
