Generic wireless usb adapter drivers?

Hey guys, i have Linksys Wusb54g adapter for internet access. The problem is the drivers for it blow. They install a file call gtgina.dll that automatically turns on your logon screen after boot, and totally screws things up. It also installs its linksys connection manager, which you cant choose not to install, just not use. It also starts up everytime you boot, finds a connection, then hands it off to Windows wireless configuration. Its really fustrating. I tried installing it by plugging the adapter into a open usb port and letting the Found new hardware wizard handle it, and point it to the cd for drivers, but it wont locate them.

That being said, does anyone know of a "generic" usb driver that i could load instead? Any help would be great.

FInd out what chipset you usb wifi uses and the go to the chipset manufacturers site. You'll normally find stripped down drivers there.

Well, its got a ralink chipset. I went to ralinks website and found the drivers that they specify, but after loading them, its configuration is looking for a wireless card, not usb device. Even though the model number matches exactly and the drivers are listed for a usb device. Looks like im s.o.l for now. Im going to email Ralink and see what they have to say about it.
