ok people I would like to know if anyone has this same internet modem? I have had it for about 4 months now and it works great, however evertime i start the car I need to unplug and plug it back in before the computer will see the modem. At first this was no biggie, but now it's just a pain in the butt. Is there anyway to fix this?

Next it has a battery in it, what is this for?

aslo is there anyway i can use this for both WIFI connection to my house router, and 3g?

last but not least, is there anyway I can set this up to work with my home network so i can see my printers and other computers from the driveway?

Thanks guys

Talk to you soon!

Phil

Does it even have WiFi? My Verizon USB (720 EVDO) is strictly cellular, meaning yeah, I could set it up to see my network, but I would have to put a "hole" in my router for it to get through from the outside, and with constantly changing ip addresses (even sitting still), it's not very "friendly". If that has WiFi, it's simple. If it doesn't, then it's not.

As for the computer losing it, mine does every once in a blue moon, but most of the time, it remembers where it is, and once computer is booted, I'm automatically on the internet.

My solution was to put an internal wireless card inside the computer (mini-pci), then I have a wireless router directly over my car when I pull into the garage. It links automatically with all computers/printers in the house and becomes part of the hub.

I have this same modem, but the Sprint Version, it is very hard to get a stable signal unless its near window, while moving. If your parked it works awsome. I had the issue you described, it has something to do with your onboard USB ports. In my case it was the external USB PCI card that was causing this. I have to have it on the onboard USB or I get the dumb unplug, plugin error. When I had my VIA motherboard, it was the opposite, it would not work on the onboard, but work on the PCI card USB. No the 595U cannot be used as a wi-fi adapter. I dont know if Verizon's software is the same, but Sprints has the ability to control other adapters, but I never use them anyways. To see your network, simply get a wi-fi adapter, the 595u cannot connect this way. If you have files and stuff, you can do like me and setup a FTP server and or use logmein.com to control your house PC on your Car PC.

PS: From what I understand, the battery is so if the card has to use extra power to get signal or what not, it doesnt strain the USB port. Problem is you have to have the battery in order to use the card period. If its red it means it is dead and will not work till it is charged (green) before you can use it, which takes 15 minutes. If you use it all the time like me, it will always be charged.
