Sprint Wireless Internet hack

I have heard a couple things about getting unlimited wireless internet from sprint. I already have a 2 year contract with Cingular but am curious about this. Can anyone explain this to me.

Well, I don't. I want to hear exactly how this is done. Also, anyone know what the options are on verizon wireless? I've read they have a high bandwidth one, but isn't there a slow speed one for free?

@none, man I didn't even pick up on that stuff. I'm like you, execpt I just have learned to block it out.

@antimatter, I've read if you get any sprint vision plan, you can use the usb connector to connect to the internet for free. I'm not sure if there is more involved in it than that. Maybe someone will enlighten us?

You have to use a vision phone and the usb data cable.

1. Install the PCS connection manager software (Need the drivers from it)
2. Install a new modem on the pc manually and select "Sprint PCS" from the list.
3. Setup a new dial-up connection using the modem you just installed and set it to dial #777 with no username or password.

Thats it, just dont abuse it as it is against the user agreement.

I just got of the phone with verizon and they said almost exactly the same thing, exept for the user agreement stuff.
install the software, cofigure it as a modem. Username/password are QNC/QNC, number to dial is #777.
strange that sprint's's against the user agreement and the one that verizon offers was suggested to me by the salesman and the cs rep.

It is against Verizons policy as well, but you have to read the fine print.

I have personally never heard of anyone terminated and that is even after 250mb/month plus.

Sprint has unlimited internet for web-enabled phones for $15/mo. I've heard that some people have been able to get certain phones to work as a wireless modem by dialing #777, but it didn't work for me when I tried it...

At any rate, Spring HAS caught on to this, and they WILL cancel your web service if you get caught. Any significant use of the $15 wireless web service in this way would almost certainly get you kicked nowadays.

An alternative (and legal) method is to sign up for the $80/mo sprint unlimited wireless web for laptops. You have to get a PC card, which retails for like $300, but then you'd have decent web access anywhere you have a Sprint signal. Too expensive for me though.

You know what, now that I think about verizon. The qnc thing can't be against the ToS. It is listed as a feature called Quick 2 Net Connect, or QNC. they mention it several time in their faqs http://www.verizonwireless.com/inter...about_mo_svc_1

mine shows it's connected at 28,8. there is also a program that it comes with that is supposed to speed up the websurfing and stuff by blocking pictures and compressing text.

What kind of phone do you have? What kind of connection to the PC? Have you tried downloading files to gauge your real speed? It may be time to upgrade my phone, but I'm trying to hold out a little longer for the new Motorola Linux phone.
