I have the second one's big brother, a 7dbi antenna, and the difference is night and day. methinks that first one has gotten bad reviews on the netstumbler forums, but I know that second one is a great little antenna.
and its a lot smaller than I thought it was.

the second one looks like the one sold at http://www.fab-corp.com ... click on "Antennas Omni" ... it's a ways down the page
$15 new. Even if it isn't that great you can't complain for $15.

just remember to look and not touch. You are authorized to see the access points, but it is a felony to use them.

Well, it does not have a grounding plane(?), so it should be mounted on a metal surface.

I have the second one. been using it in the car for a couple of months now. the improvements over the 2.2dbi rubber duck i was using are phenominal. i pick up about 30% access pointswhen war driving, i can now park any where on my street and still be able to access my network (about 100 metres in any direction. my access point is a very cheap zonet thing thats bolted to a solid brick wall in the middle of the house) its a decent antenna for the money. oh and it out performs my house mates orinocco gold and 5.5dbi magmount with ground plane setup some thing special
