Still working for me.
I'm pretty sure that says what I meant it to say.

Ive just finished reading thru this entire thread trying to get a grasp for how this works. I want to use this for my carputer. Is this still working on prepaid sim cards?
Im wanting to give this a try since it has GPRS and wifi built into the same card. Figured it would save me from needing 2 devices. Sony Ericsson GC89. I did a search to see if anyone else was using this and only found one thread that mentioned it, but no other info. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...highlight=GC89 What do you guys think about this? Let me know if there is a better way to go about it.
I figured I would get a cheap Tmobile prepaid phone (dont really need the phone... prolly use it just to use the balance before it expires), $100 sim (since it doesnt expire for a year) and this card. As far as I understand it doesnt use any balance on the card to use the internet. Only uses the balance when calls are made.
Someone give me some insight on this and let me know if Im going in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Looks like there is no way to get free internet with T2G (T-Mobile to go, otherwise known as Prepaid) Sorry.

Cingular too
I used to get free internet on a cingular phone with a data cable too. I had them set up my plan to bill my internet for the minutes used instead of the data used. Then I just connected to the internet during the nights and weekends. (This was a Sony Ericson t62u with a USB data cable and the software that came with the cable)
I also thought it was funny that one time I called them and they told me that using a data cable to connect to the internet on a computer "was not supported". They are such morons over at Cingular.
My other discovories included figuring out how to use text messaging for AIM and Yahoo messenger before that was supported. One month I used 5000 text messages
I switched to T-mobile about 2 years ago.

Does anyone know if this (or some version of it) is still working as of May 2006? I have T-Mobile and a data cable, but definitely cannot get onto the GPRS network in any 'normal' way that I've tried....

Yup, still works for me. Have you signed up for t-zones? I think it's like $3.00 a month?

Yes, I have T-zones. The computer is connected to the phone... I can set it up as a modem, and get "GPRS connected", but I can't authenticate onto the network and do any browsing. What am I doing wrong?

I personally gave up on this as our local cell provider came out with a wireless data service for $40 a month unlimited. It is supposed to be around 2.4mb/sec which is not too bad. I plan to get the UTStarcom 6700 PPC phone and use it as a modem in the car.

Wholy crap, this thread is still going? I stopped visiting the site a while ago cuz was too busy with work and things. Glad to see things are still going strong. I might actually be getting back into the carputer world....
BTW the free t-zones thing is still working strong. I use it all the time. only pay $5.99 /month.
