Correct Settings?

I tried the following phone numbers, and although they all work, I have not figured out what differences the last numeric digit makes.

*99***1#
*99***2#
*99***3#
*99***4#
*99***5#

I was able to browse internet without putting proxy settings into Internet explorer LAN options.

Does anyone know the best setting for best throughput?

First, go to Control Panel->Phone and Modem and select your bluetooth modem properties. There is a field that you can type in extra initialization string. Put in: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

Next, in IE or FF, go to properties and set up the proxy settings. Put the following in: 216.155.165.50 for address and 8080 for port. I found that automatically detecting the settings doesn't work. Also, remember to change it back if you're using WiFi or a direct ethernet connection.

Hope this helps!

God bless. Finally got my connection to work from my old motorola (v188) under these exact instructions. Thanks alot Alimh. The connection isnt the fastest and brings back memories of the old 56k days but seems perfect for traffic and weather. Havent setup in my car yet will post back once i do

Here is what i have:

~Apple Mac Mini
~PocketMac sync software
~and T-mobile service with the unlimited internet/data plan (BES server).

Any help or direction to threads on this topic would be cool!

I have this working and wanted to pass on what I did.

I have T-Mobile Favs family plan with “NO” internet on my plan. So this means I am unable to surf the standard internet from my phone. However, I do have T-Zone accessibility.

My phone is a Samsung T-619 and I used a Dlink Bluetooth adapter to manage it. I located Samsung PC studio 3 on the Samsung website for managing this phone over blue tooth. With in this studio of applications there is a “manage internet connections” link and when I use the wizard to set up my phone it does all the work for me. I didn’t require and modem modifications or IE, FF modifications either as it worked right out of the box.

I am getting 115K throughput and isn’t anything like my DSL line but in a pinch or on the road this certainly will do the trick.

I just wanted to pass this info on to those who are trying to connect.

Phone Question

Hello, I am looking to transfer from Cingular to T-Mobile within the next next for new phone service. I like the Samsung T629 and was wondering if anybody used this phone for this free internet through the t-zones? Also, does anybody have a clue on a phone that works well with Phoco or RoadRuner Mobile?

Thanks!

for those of you that this is working WITHOUT a tzones plan, can you browse wap sites on your phone directly as well, or does it only work when used as a modem for the pc? i ask because i set up my phone (a t637) for tzones, but i cant access any wap pages directly on the phone. it keeps asking me to sign up for tmo web. i have not yet tried on the pc.

No, you need to use a pc to browse on. The T-Mobile firmware locks out the internal browser on the phone.
