Well, I got t-zones (where I can download junk) but when I go to "open URL" instead of opening, say yahoo, it goes on tlling me how I should sign up for some crappy plan (unlimited tzones). WTF?

LOL, I was looking for info and accidentally stumbled on an interesting website.
Now my Nokia 3935 is unlocked
Oh well, at least my search wasn't a total failure.

well i think the party is officially over on this one. Tmobile has blocked port 80 in most areas now. That means you can no longer use your phone as a modem and get HTTP sites to work unless you subscribe to the 19.99 plan.
Hopefully someone finds a work-around..

Yeah, i just noticed this the past few days. I rarely use the Tzones on my phone (SE T610) for tzones or internet on the carpc, but... it is the MAIN reason i went with Tmobile. And im not about to fork over 20bucks extra a month for a slow *** internet conection that im only going to use every now and then to get weather udates in the car IM or maybe check movie times while im out and about.

This really sucks.
And the way TMOBILE has been treating me lately, they are trying real hard for me to leave them for Cingular.
If i cant get online for cheaper then what perk does TMOBILE have over anyone else, nothing! At least with Cingular you get rollover minutes so you dont get RAPED with extra charges.

well it seems that where there is a will there will allways be a way.
Someone has figured out a way around this.
Head over to http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=518666
and get all the info

That thread is 8 pages long and seems like there isnt a solution inside but there is. To make things simple so you dont have to read the whole damn thread like I did. People found that if you set up a proxt on your PC you can connect (not really new) but... then someone found that TMO still had a port open that can be used for regular web browseing. To set this up on your PC
just go to Internet Options> BluetoothConnection(or whatever you used)>Settings> checkbox "Use a proxy sever for this connection address 216.155.165.50 and port 8080
Do the same for your PDA and you are golden once again.

Ive tested this and it works, if you have problems read the thread

Will this work if you have no additional plans? Just the very limited 'free' wap stuff? I.e. I'm not paying 2.99 or 4.99 or for any of the add-on T-zones plans.

Hmm, some progress. I got IE to download (but not display) a wap page that tells me I need to purchase the $4.99 unlimited T-Zones plan. That's way further than I've ever got before trying this...

A few more details for anyone interested. I'm using a Samsung S105 phone connected by IR to my laptop and (currently) GPRS wizard to make the connection (without this I never got *anywhere*).

I forked out the $4.99/month to turn on unlimited T-zones to see if it's all working. And lo and behold, it is. Painfully slow (still waiting for my msn.com home page to appear after it went off to MS passport) but the fact it knew to connect to passport shows it did actually get the data from the page. Still, at well over a minute (so far) to load my home page, it's not too hot!

I guess I'll do some experiments to see if the speed I get is actually sufficient for some of the uses I'm considering putting this to in my car computer.

Here's the full list of what I did to get this installed:
Got phone connected to PC by IR.
Installed EasyGPRS and configured it to use the phone.
Set proxy settings in IE for the EasyGPRS network connection as above.
Set phone settings to the same IP (*#VSWAP# on my phone - they *may* now be back to the defaults but I can't find the document I stored the original settings in).

Hmm, that msn.com home page still hasn't turned up. Maybe it's not working as well as I hoped. Ah no, I got www.microsoft.com to appear in parallel in a more sensible amount of time. So I guess it's just the my.msn.com home page is strange in some way (maybe just really complicated).

It was working for me for most web pages once I signed up for the $4.99 deal. Haven't tried it since. Only the MSN page(s) wouldn't work.

Good deal, $5 extra for unlimited Internet sounds great! I could use that in college for IM
