Anyone knows about Canadian wireless internet provider?

Anyone living in Canada knows about whether there's any wireless internet provider here? I'm in Vancouver, really want to be able to browse the net on the go!

You have a few options..

Telus offers this service for $5/month. You need the data cable for your phone (get it off ebay, theirs are 3x more). Your phone acts as a modem and you dial a #something phone number and you get internet access. There is no supplemental fees but the minutes you spend online are deducted from your monthly daytime minutes (regardless if you call when you have unlimited calling).

Fido is a bit better. They even offer a wireless pc world card which is pcmcia based. Or you can take the route of using your phone. With their bluetooth phones you just need a bluetooth dongle and you're set or you can use a datacable also I believe. Their pricing is $0.03/kb, or $5/month for 500kb, $25/month for 5mb, or $50/month unlimited. I haven't tried the service but I have seen it in action and you get about the speed of a 56k modem.

As pyros mentioned max speeds are:

Fido: 56k
Bell: 128k ( i believe )
telus 128k (i believe)
rogers 128k (i believe)

correct me if i'm wrong on those speeds...anyway if you drive mostly in van...go with fido. I believe i am going to be getting that shortly too i have a pcmcia slot on my carpc too so it'll work out nicely.

Note: check out this link, re: wireless internet

I don't think this technology will roam *yet* but think of the possibilities~! Once this is widely available and supports tower roaming...2mbps IN YOUR CAR
