Range of Wireless USB NIC's???

I am getting really close to installing my second CarPC in the car.... (this weekend actually) and I am getting concerned about the range of the Linksys Wireless USB network adapter I plan to put in there.... It is the 2.4GHz (802.11b) adapter

The car, while sitting in the garage will be about 80 to 100 ft from my wireless hub......

Do ya'll have an opinion if the Linksys will reach that far? Or will I need to put a repeater in the garage?

thats hard to say, my microsoft USB 802.11b nic has trouble going 40ft, but of course thats through like 8 walls. Might be one of those things you will have to try to see for sure. Especially since every house is diffrent, i've seen houses where wireless signal is great. I have also seen houses where it wont go outside of one room.

My Linksys Wireless G USB network hit from like a block away. I had to connect to my network at a neighbors house about 300ft away... It connected, but I couldn't do anything. Dead air its supposed to hit about 300ft...but the WirelessB router didn't do a good enough job.

Ohh yeah, one more thing...it should reach your car ...My Car is not in a garrage, but at the very tip of my driveway, which is on the corner of my house....and my router is in the middle of the house...and I can connect to my carputer no problem...well except recently since I been havin network problems.

I have had good experience with the Avaya/Lucent Orinoco cards (I think the newer Proxims might be a bit different), although I haven't used the stock antenna. In my truck I have a 2.4GHz ant on the roof used with it, and have made 10+ mile links with them using larger external antenna. The antenna on it right now is a little homebrew patch antenna (it moves from antenna to antenna quite a bit).
