thank you for the help, i got it to work. Unfortunately, the phone modemn kicking in and out. i can see it through my hardware devices manager, i think the cable is defective but the place i bought it from doesn't think so. do u guys any any ideas?

check for fluff/dirt in the contacts onthe bottom of your phone. My SE K700i has a ***** connection to even the charger as the tabs ont he phone are coveredin crap from my pockets.

also give each end a wiggle and see why it is going on and off.

Failing that take it back and bloody have a damn good go at them and make em give you a new one! customer is always right!
