Ouch... that's an increase of $55/year.

agreed - $10/month is nothing to complain about - I reboosted for a whopping $30
btw, your tracker software is great, finally got everything cobbled together (port 80 blockage last hurdle) - if you ever want to share the client source code, count me in
thanks

Sure, I just have to clean it up a little and make some changes. Check the tracker thread :P

Hey all. Thanks to this thread, I think I might finally get the wireless internet I've wanted for so long! Thank you!
Today I finally got my data cable, and so I decided to try out connecting through my i870 (on Boost). It seemed to connect ok, but I seem to be having problems actually passing data. Here's the deal.
I followed the instructions at http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...7&postcount=10 to setup my connection. The only part I'm a little confused about is the "LLP Extension" part - my computer only seems to have the option for LCP Extensions, and I've tried them both enabled and disabled.
So it seems like I'm connected, the dialog comes and goes, Windoes shows me as connected, and I even have an IP address.
However, when I go to ping anything, I just get connection timed out. It seems I'm getting DNS service as the domain names I try to ping resolve to IP addresses, so I'm a little stumped. Any ideas?
Thanks again!
Edit: Just wanted to add that wireless web on the phone seems to work just fine, so I get the feeling it's something in the connection to my computer.

LCP extensions needs to be off.
You don't have a firewall or proxy or anything screwing up your connection, do you?
Have you tried using it on another computer yet?

I will try to give it a try tonight. I'll be on a different computer, and I'll be sure to disable everything firewall-ish.
What I found somewhat interesting was that if I dropped to a command prompt and ran ipconfig, I had no DNS servers listed, yet it seemed that DNS was just about the only thing working.
Any thoughts on the modem hardware and software compression settings?
Anyway, I'll keep ya posted!

Well, I tried it again with a different computer, all firewalls off, etc. It didn't work. But I did examine things a little closer and came up with more info. A dump of the relevant parts of my ipconfig /all are here:
PPP adapter Boost:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.23.6.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.23.6.2
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 170.206.225.21
170.206.225.22
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled
What's interesting to note here is that my IP address is set to the same as my Default Gateway. I'm not sure if that's significant as I've never really done DUN under WinXP. Anyway, the DNS servers resolve to nexteldata.net addresses, so I'm reasonably sure I'm connected, I just dunno what's going on with my IP addresses. Could someone perhaps post a dump of what typing 'ipconfig /all' at a command prompt generates? I'm certain I just have something messed up somewhere. Oh, and while the listing above says Dhcp Enabled: No, I've definitely got the settings set for "Obtain an IP address automatically". LCP is also set to disabled.
Thoughts?

Does anybody have a way to get the phone to power on with the car? I want to hook this up to something that will provide power after the ignition is turned on but I don’t know how to get the phone to power on with it. Any suggestions?

why would you need to power it on only when the car is on? its not gonna drain your car battery just the battery of the phone. Assuming you have a usb with built in charger you shouldnt ever have to turnt he phone off.

I'm working on a mod similar to PURDooMs (around # 17 in this thread) where I'm thinking about installing the screen in the dash of my truck to use for GPS (mologogo). I'd like the install to be clean and to have it come up when the ignition is turned on. It can take a few minutes for it to come up sometimes so I'd like it to be one of the first things on. Any suggestions?
