Edit 2: got the mysql setup and its working correctly.
Thanks to everyone who added info to this thread

New kid on the block
Greetings,
Better late than never... I'm the new kid on the block. I've been following the forum for a while now. I've finally jumped in.
The mobile data connection has always interested me. 802.11 is great, but really short range. Doesn't work well on the road. The expensive data services seemed a bit pricy. When I found out about Mologogo, I couldn't resist.
I picked up Mologogo's pre-installed phone (i415). I'm a relatively lazy guy, and the Mologogo project gets to keep a few bucks. Works as advertised in covered areas. I was surprised. I like the Boost plan - at least to get started. Its slow (remember the 28.8K modem days?), but its cheap (about $10/mo.). If I decide that I need more bandwidth, I don't have to wait out a year-long contract before switching. If I decide that it was all a waste of time, I can chuck it all without having to waste a year-long contract.
My alternate URL project is proceeding slowly. It works, but I have nothing to show off yet.
Many thanks to everyone here. I hope I'll have something useful to contribute in the future.

Its working pretty good. I just got back from a trip and it logged most of it to mysql database. Sometimes it had trouble with getting GPS lock and used cell towers instead.
My biggest problem is incoming phone calls. No one knows this number but somehow I get about a call (and voice message!) a day.
I also used it for internet on the trip which worked flawlessly. I had to make a cable from a v500 data cable and a i450 car charger because ZERO stores here had a nextel data cable. Which is fine in the long run since I will be able to charge through 12v when its hard wired in my mp3 car and not rely on USB charge.

Here's a screen shot of my ALT URL php file:
You'll notice the polyline kind of wanders around my so the gps accuracy is sometimes not as good as the USB one in my car. This polyline was generated from inside the house with the phone in the window so it may not have had all satellites.

Actually, we can't see it... What we do see is a pop-up asking for a username/password to access the "secure document".
Can you please remove the restriction or edit the URL? The popup shows up everytime this forum page reloads.

I can't find the Boost i450 at the stores anymore. Does anybody know were you can get this thing at besides ebay? And, more importantly, has anybody messed with the i455? That's the one that I can find. It's the upgrade from the i450.
Thanks. Eric

? What do you mean. Yes... phone service is $30/mo (-$10 in credits if you call in). Internet is free. That's $20/mo total.
Great phone, plenty of minutes, can be used as EVDO modem over bluetooth or included USB cable, $20/mo. The only down side is the 2-year contract.
You can also add a 2nd phone for only $10/mo if you want to use one as your cell and perminatly attach the other to the car. You can get the dropped call credits on that second line too though, so actually it is free. 2 phones, $20/mo total.

I went out to Walmart today and low & behold an i450! However, it was $90.00 I'm either going to eBay it or get the i455 for the same price.
