John,
mologogo will keep running in the background in and out of service BUT if someone calls you, it will suspend the app and you have to restart. This is the number one issue with this system right now. I don't know that anyone has come up with a way to force mologogo running all the time or to reset the phone and restart if it hangs. MFC appears to be the only unbabysitted method, but at $350 it veers from the original intent of this thread. Regardless it is really cool and if I had the dough I might get one.

It doesn't have WiDEN enabled, as I said above - I checked. Also, I bought it earlier this year (February or March).

how did you check this? If you bought it this year and can connect to any of their mobile web features you have widen.

Just because you can browse the Internet on it, doesn't mean that it has WiDEN. It can have iDEN. In my first post, I explained how to check it.

Can anyone assist? Thanks!

(To get to Trace Mode, press the pound key, star key, Menu button, and finally the right arrow. Do not use a combination of them, just press each one. And, do not wait as this will make it "time out".) Then, you go down to "Err/Channel" and press the right arrow key to change it to Yes. Press the Back button, or "Hang up". Begin to do data transfer (browse around or look at your account balance/status). Look at the top left of the screen, and if you see ""WPCH" then you have WiDEN. If you see PCH, then you do not have WiDEN enabled.

Same here, I checked and it looks like I only have iden. I checked the phone speed and IT IS NOT widen even though I bought it something like a month ago.
I read that there's a way to switch it from iden to widen and all I can find is threads where people tell you there's a way to do it but nowhere where someone is actually telling you how to do it. The same way I heard you can turn lead into gold !!! LOL.
cheers

@THNDR : if it's so off it might be because when the GPS can't find satellites it relies on the cell phone tower position to tell you where you are.
If you don't have any satellites visible, the GPS will give your position as the closest tower to you.

For those of you who are confused about enabling widen on your handset here are a few tips to help you out.
1. You cannot just use the regular version of the Motorola Carrier program to enable this feature. You must have the Depot patch for it.
2. Once you have the patch you can go to user ergonomics/tiering flags and you will see the widen option with a check box beside it. This program has a whole lot of editable options compared to the regular versions.
3. A serial cable for a older version phone I60/I90/I95/I500 ect can be used for the newer phones but the center plastic piece has to be broken off. These cables are extremely cheap on ebay and most have the charging port.
4. There are 1000's of programs freely available for these handsets that are downloadable to your pc most will work for emulators even the ones that have to access the internet so you can use progs on your carpc.
5. If you pm me I can give you a large list of sites to find information and help on modding these handsets to your needs. Other handsets with widen available but hidden as well are I760 I670 I850 I855 I930
6. Widen is still only available in a limited number of markets all other access will be at 19200kbps no matter what your pc says it is connected at that is just the speed data is being transferred from the modem(phone) to the pc at.
7. If you cannot get your pc to connect, You keep have modem harware errors and such Check you make sure that you have LCP Extensions unchecked In your network settings under the server settings tab.

boost success in bfe
ok. it works. tested this on a 28 mile drive from work to home with a boost-motorola I455 purchased while i was down in florida. i used the motorola iden driver in this thread with a motorola usb cable SKN6311C with the tab removed. seems no matter what the ping times are high... 300ms -4000ms - timeout. no matter what site.. man thats lots of latency. i tested with gaim- yahoo, aol and msn live. all stayed connected. i live in bfe so service dropped when i pulled in my driveway next to my house.. but then i switch over to wifi. btw. my area is not on the coverage map so it was a chance i decided to take and mainly for use on trips. looking for a connection manager and tools to switch to widen. but i live in bfe so im not sure widen is enabled here.. although alltel does have EVDO enabled but it costs $$$ on top of a standard plan. sorry long post...

I455
I was thinking about picking up the I455 but was curious, does the phone have to remain open while you're accessing the internet or running mologogo? I doubt it's going to be much of a concern for me either way but I'd just rather have it be closed if I could.
