Hi all....

I just found this site and want to set up the Boost mobile as a moden and a GPS tracker,

what is the best phone to buy on Ebay ? the i450 or i455 or is there a better one thats under $50 ?

One I get it I am sure I will have some more questions ,

Thanks for keeping this thread alive

Beaulieu

PS.....is there any other cheap way thats NOT Boost mobile that does the same thing?
just thinking that maybe in the last year someone else figured out a better plan .

I use my i425 it has a mini usb port so any mini usb cable with plug in and charge your phone and connect it to your computer. I get speeds about twice as fast a dial up. Hey its better then nothing I say. As far as better service altel is getting better you can get unlimited but its still like $45 a month.

with my Sidekick I need to call Tmobile and change my Sim from voice to Sidekick and voice use,

Did anyone determine whether data feature actually needs to be purchased?

Is WiDEN still activated on Sprint Nextel networks?

Wikipedia says:

To this date, WiDEN has not been restored.

Every so often, my stupid i455, connected to my PC via USB for DUN, stops being recognized by Windows and it drops off the list of installed modems. Anyone else have this problemo?

I don't know if this has already been posted, but here it goes.

I never signed up for the 35 cent a day data plan, but my phone works as a modem (data cable to computer) and other java apps (mologogo and opera mini) work.

I just put $20 (cause I can never find the $10 re-boost cards) on the phone every three months, (balance rolls forward, have ~$60 now).

so are you saying it's free? you don't have to re-boost every 3 months right, as long as you still have the original 20 in your account? I may try this, how's the speed for checking email and weather?

You have to re-boost every 90 days. When you re-boost your balance is extended for another 90 days.

HELP! I've been using Mologogo on an i455 for months now and it works beautifully...but after a few days, the phone stops communicating with the Mologogo website - this is apparently because the java software on the phone crashes after a while. I'm thinking the java implementation on the phone isn't designed to stably run java programs 24/7 for long periods of time.

SOLUTION: All we need to do is turn the phone off/on every day or so! Manually turning off/on the phone seems to make everything work again! So, does anyone know of a circuit that does the following:

1. closes relay for 1 sec.
2. waits 10-20 secs
3. closes relay for 1 sec.
THEN, repeats #1-3 every few hours or so?

Thanks!

I think there's a way to make the app restart every day. It's buried in this thread somewhere.

There is, but it requires the application to close itself after a set period of time. If the application "hangs," it can't close itself down and restart. I already have the app set to restart 4 times a day, and it still hangs sometimes.
