Same goes for weather downloads, GPS log uploads, and most other things you doo often with a CarPC. Speed is not really nessasary for typical CarPC use (unless you are trying to stream media or just really can't stand having to wait a few seconds for your Google Local search results).
That's what I was hoping, plenty of time for map streaming. Everything else can take it's time.

I'll add one more question, not being that up on phones, I've seen the i450 on ebay and it says it's unlocked, in this particular case, does that actual mean anything?

If it is unlocked, that means it could be used with any provider that supports the same kind of technology that the phone uses. In boost's case, that means you could use it on the nextel network and get a nextel plan if you wanted too.
The status of it being locked/unlocked is irrelevant for you, all you need is a boost mobile i450 and a sim card for boost mobile as well. Because you need the sim card, it may be worth the extra $30 to get it retail and avoid the hassle of finding and configuring a sim off of ebay.

Someone in this thread said that they purchased a Boost Mobile phone from Best Buy, right? Do they still carry the phones? If so, where do they put them in their stores, usually? (I know the stores are different, but the sections all usually hold the same crap)

Yes, but I only saw Cingular and Verizon phones, no Boost. I was wondering if it was a regional/per-store thing.

They are usually hanging on the wall along with the virgin mobile phones. I think boost is marketed to a 'urban' style market, so if you aren't near any major cities or clubbing areas, I bet they wouldn't sell them
To get an idea of the boost mobile additude, watch the video that aqua teen hunger force made for them: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KLvp_vlE_...boost%20mobile

@ every Best Buy that I've been to, they're in a special pre-paid cell phone section (reletively close to the mobile phone dept.)
Posted on my sister's laptop using i450 in Houston, Tx!!

No, not all Best Buys are still carrying the phones. My local one ditched them because they weren't selling. They're still selling the pre-pay cards, but NOT the phones.
