shrinkydinx - it uses Mappoint as a base...the virtual earth integration is what SD folks added to it, i.e. not native to Mappoint today.

You know there's a thread like this already.....

The best use yet:
My 9 year-old daughter was able to surf to disney.com and nickelodeon.com and keep herself entertained as we drove through the West Texas desert.
That's priceless.

When you say nationwide interenet what do you mean? Do you mean internet access via wireless/cellular providers like Sprint/Verizon/Cingular or a seperate dedicated service? I have "Vision" provide by Sprint PCS and a Treo 650. When I'm not using Vision on my Treo I can connect it via BT or USB and use as a modem. Is that sort of what you mean? I also suppose you mean for carPC applications. I rarely use a constant net connection in my car. It's rare that when I do want to connect with my carPC I can't find a 802.11 connection (free hotspots, or coarse ). I haven't tried it yet but I would like to use my Treo connected via BT for a constant 'net connection for GPS tracking. Just for fun.
