2006 Mazda 3 Worklog

Hey everyone,

Been a member for a while, put a carputer in my '95 monte carlo, but unfortunatly that was totalled... So now I have a 2006 Mazda 3, and I'm finally starting the carputer install on this one.

Sure I could have just taken all the carputer stuff out of the old car and put it in this one... but why bother! I decided that I already had some experience in putting a carputer in, so why not go totally insane on this one. I plan on keeping the car for a while, so it seemed like a good idea.

My specs for the new car are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
ASUS P5PE-VM
Seagate 2.5" 80Gig
Lilliput 619

jl 500/1
jl 10w6v2
jl 300/4
focal 165K

Behringer DCX-2496 Sound Processor with a DC Powersupply

This where I'm still deciding... I'm still deciding wether I want to have rear speakers or not... When I got the jl 300/4, I was planning on getting a 300/2 as well, and get a Focal 165 Kbe for rear speakers. Have the 300/4 power the tweets, and the rear's, and the 300/2 power the front woofers... But money is running a little short, so I'm going to try just front speakers, and power it with the jl 300/4, if I like having just front's, then great, and possibly get a 450/4 to replace the 300/4 for some extra power.

Either way... Here are some pics

Some Fabricating of the screen... Sorry I don't have more in process pics, just got too excited and forgot about the camera. All I need to really do now is get it down to my uncles body shop to paint it.

Started sound deadening today...

I'll update as I go... I've had the car since november but I've been waiting until now cause I have college, and that comes first... plus I have extra money in the summer with work and all...

Hey, just giving a little update. I've been working on a little of everything, got the trunk, the floor under the back seats, and one of the doors sound deadened. Got half my fiberglassing for the sub enclosure done... I'm almost done with all of the wiring. I Just need to do the "Big 3", and get a ground for the system.

I ran all the speaker wires to a terminal block, and all the wires for my vfd. This way it would be much easier to take the rack, including two amps and a computer in and out of the car. Not to mention hopefully making things a bit cleaner.

I don't have any pictures of the amp rack on its own yet, but I put some pics of it up in the car.

Thats me

If anyone wants a different angle or something, just let me know

worklogs seem to be more about you showing the process rather than having any questions answered. at least that's been my experience. keep up the good work!

I got the vfd a while ago from Matrix Orbital, its about 5 years or so old, and I've used it pretty much every day since in my home computer and the screen still looks brand new, maybe its not as bright... but not a big enough differnece that I would be able to tell, its deffinatly built to last.

Small update:

Okay, long story short, I now have a 7" lilliput 619 monitor non-touch as well as my 7" lilliput touchscreen. So I'm going to have to put it somewhere. I was thinking about putting somewhere for my rear seat passengers, but that would kill the entire "stock" look I'm trying to accomplish. So now I'm thinking that I'm going to put it in the trunk just for the hell of it.

I figured attached to my amp rack right in front of the computer/underneath the amplifier to the right. What you guys think?

sounds like a plan i had the same idea (with my extra ts) so then when i had to trouble shoot the computer from the trunk i wasn't squinting at the dash monitor.
