So I installed PowerStrip to ajust the image (shrink in vertical), but its a commercial product, and before I have to buy it there is a chance it will work by adjusting reg keys that the driver installation reads before first boot.

The problem is that I think that these adjustments are only possible thru reinstallation of OS or driver, because it reads the registry keys after the setup completes before booting.

Will post here the .reg file if I find the correct values.

(sorry all, its portuguese)

Hi,

As you know I have all the parts, I just dont have the time these days to install it in the car.

Meanwhile, I was looking around the mp3car.com store and found this new mobo from intel, at a very low cost 69.95:

I am considering to hold on the installation, and buy this mobo, so the case (will fabricate) will be much smaller.

I just need confirmation if it supports hybernation and 800x480 resolution.

Indeed they´re small, I have an Epia and can say this for sure. Maybe you can fit it behind the screen, this way you won´t have to deal with long cables, but will have face a tighter install. Have you got the cables already?

I dont have the cables, yet. Installing behind the screen inside the dash is an option, but I am concerned about heating.

I will think about it. If I decide to go that way I'll have to plan everything again. hehehe

Thanks

Thumbs up New GPS and MoBO ordered today from mp3car.com

Hi,

I've just placed an order at mp3car.com for the following items:
- BU-353 Weather-proof GPS Receiver
- MTB-053 Intel D201GLY Little Valley with 1.33 GHz Celeron Processor

My current GPS is old and it takes too long to get a fix.
My current Mother Board is from a standard desktop and the new Intel Little Valley seems to be a good deal for a small sized MoBo.

I expect to have that parts installed in 10 days or less.

Thanks!

Thumbs up CarPC exists!

It's wiring day!!!
(It was on last weekend, sep 15 2007, I'm posting pictures today sep 20 2007)

5...4...3...2...1...

Passing a thick 9mm wire (~00 awg) from hood to the trunk:

Left: 80A breaker in the hood near the battery; Right: Distribution block with 30A fuses in the trunk (plastic box at bottom of the image):

My temporary (prototipe) case and amplifier laying around in the trunk (fabrication will happen soon). I went to a friends car audio store and he removed the audio cables from the previous sound installation, and wired it so that the PC is providing sound via RCA to the Amplifier (see previous post with wiring diagram). After testing the cables, breaker, distribution block and audio cables, I've connected the PC and peripherals.

The screen now connected. Ready to go! Turned the ignition on and M2-ATX starts everything up, CarPC finally alive! First boot in car!!!

The dash before the destruction, with AC in the original place, and my Kenwood head-unit;

Stereo removed; Hummm the screen will fit nicely there...

I removed the AC, that was hard to do; The larger frontal dash piece is very difficult to remove, so I was anxious to see the screen there, I was crazy and decided to crack the piece;

AAAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

Left: The screen is inside the dash now! ahahahahaha; Right: See where I plan to have the AC controls. Will fabricate a console to hang it there.

The next obvious steps are:
- Remove the screen from the dash (hahahaha)
- Remove the large frontal dash piece (that is a challenge)
- Fabricate the dash
- Fabricate the trunk

Will do it in the next 1 or 2 weeks.

Thanks!
