I'm planning this on my wife's '98 civic, which unfortunately, is more complex for the dash bezel, so there will be a lot of different stuff involved from what you have, but I am interested to see what you build for the AC console. I'm still kicking a couple of ideas around. I have another project to complete first though, so I can wait to see what you decide to do. If you have a buddy with an install shop, it shouldn't be too difficult to get those creative juices flowing...

What are you talking about? The M2 is all over the place. I got two of them off ebay for 75 bucks each.

You're right I don't live there. What are you saying? that to import one it would be heavily taxed? What sort of tax are we talking about? and how much money? Here in the US the average citizen ends up paying approximately 40% of their income in one form of taxes or another...
And only the illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes, and the people who don't work, get free healthcare...
So, believe it or not, I can understand getting f**ked in taxes too. PM me, and maybe I can help you out.

New parts coming (FM/TV, MoBo, GPS), upgrade soon

Hi, the sound is very good! PC is connected to the Amplifier, that is connected to my 4 speakers and the sub.
I lost the fade control (front and hear) that I had when I used the Kenwood HU, but I still have the balance (stereo).
The sound is very loud and no interference/noise.
I bought a cheap PCI card that has TV and FM, will try it, my expectations aren't high for this, I dont listen so much radio (but its nice to have, to listen traffic and news).
By the way, I will start fabrication only then the Intel Little Valley MoBo is here. Next weekend I will receive it together with the new USB GPS. I will take the PC out of the car and take it back to my desk to perform the "upgrade".
Today I posted a topic in "Honda Club" forum, asking for help regarding the Data Logging from the ECU (OBD-I). I found a friend that knows about this subject and he will help me with that.

So far the only solution for me is to buy via the Internet and ship to a hotel where some friend is staying in USA, and he or she take it home to me. I work in Brazil but for an american company, and there is always somebody traveling to USA, if not myself.
Brazillian citizens have U$ 500,00 allowance tax-free when entering the country. If you bring more than that you have to pay high taxes, such as 50% of what exceeds the U$ 500,00.
Ship to Brazil is bad due to shipment costs and even higher taxes (when its a mailed package).
If you have another solution, can you PM me? Thanks!

Heheh... Thanks! Its not ready yet, but I am very close.
But this is only phase 1. I am already planning phase 2 (cellphone, OBD-I, rear-view cam, ...).
Its time to arrange a CarPC Brasil meeting, there is a thread about it here. I guess that most of us are in Sao Paulo, so we can meet in a gas station or somewhere else, someday at night or weekend, and exchange ideas.

New GPS and Mother Board arrived!!!
Hi all,
My new USB GPS and Intel LIttle Valley mother board have arrived!
Will post pictures soon!
I tested the GPS and the acquisition time is very fast, I cant even compare with my previous GPS (bought in 2003).
I will have to buy a P4-12V to P4-12V for the M2-ATX, in order to test the Mother Board in the car. I will test it with a regular PC PSU that I have.
Thanks

Finally 800x480!
Hi,
The new motherboard (Intel Little Valley D201GLY) default driver offer 800x480 as an option by default, in the resolution settings.
Here is a screenshot:
So far this board is very good in price/performance/features.

Fabrication in progress...
Hi, just to inform that the fabrication is being done.
I was out on a business trip to Vegas (coming back home now), so I left the car in my friend's audio store, they are taking care of the dash fabrication. The car was there for a week (during my trip).
Tomorrow I will see the car (I am coming back home now, from Vegas to Brazil, at DFW now), and I hope to see lot of progress.
I have some pictures that I will post soon, from the fabrication process and the finished pieces.
Also, I bought a Griffin Powermate in this trip to USA (had mp3car.com ship to my hotel) it was cheap and its good to use a volume knob (maybe). I tested it in my notebook and it is very cool. If I dont use it in the car, I may use it at home.

Thanks

Dash fabrication is done, parts are being painted
Hi,
The dash fabrication is done and the pieces are being painted!!
Here is some pictures of the dashboard completely destructed hehehe, and the parts being made. I took them using my cellphone, low res.

This is the new part that will replace the original one (civic have a cupholder and cigarette adapter there). Its made of wood and KPO (this is the name of the glue they are using). Below the object holder, there will be an USB port and the cigarrete adapter.

This fabrication is being done by a friend's stereo store, because I am having business trips these days (btw, I'm on the airport now). For the friends of Sao Paulo Brazil, I would recommend them, PM if you are interested.
So tomorrow the parts will be back from painting and I hope to have it all installed until saturday.
Next week we will begin the trunk fabrication, but that will be quicker than the dashboard.
Thanks
