1987 GMC Jimmy PlowPuter
Good news today, I received the check from the insurance company after the totaling of my 85 Monte Carlo. This means that I only have to wait for everything to clear and then the truck is mine, so I figured Id start a new thread for what I have deemed as my PlowPuter. This truck is an 1987 GMC Jimmy with a plow, a 3in lift, and a set of hug tires (not sure how big they are, I'll measure them when I get the truck) and now as with my other CarPC install here is the link to both save bandwidth and make it more readable... http://hacks.andrewstrausberg.com/CarPCv2/

I was going to work on this when I woke up but the excitement of finally working everything out with the insurance company and getting my truck I decided Id start working and planning. Ill have pictures and whatnot up on the site when I get a chance and then I will document as I go but I just couldn't wait to get this going... Ill keep everyone posted as I update.

I did a lot of work on the computer today I almost have everything done, mounted, and installed... Ill have pictures sometime tomorrow. All I need to do now is wire the PSU power wires, find a place to mount the amps, mount the amps, and then just the basic finalization of everything. I should be ready for the meet on the 28th as long as I can get my car registered and all that MA BS... Anyways wish me luck

I realize I haven't updated this in a while and I have finished the install including the sound system (I have pictures), however I just haven't had the time to upload anything because of other work that the truck has need... They will be up soon for those interested.

Well I uploaded the last picture of the hardware install today, now, should I also upload pictures of the audio install as well? What about the software side of things? I was pretty much done with it while everything was on the bench now I just need to configure things. Is anyone interested in that?

Nothing for right now... its still in the shop and I am probably going to have to rebuild/custom build a fuel system.
