if theirs anything that i hate is a work log with no pics ...


I might just stary on my info screen at the same time as the screen that way i can work on one as the other is drying...

ok i got a VFD(vacuum Fluorescent Display) from a friend for $20 its a 2 line 16 charicter display


As it turns out the box was empty???, ok well its a project box now...


its either going here

or here...

that trim only cost me $20 and it goes right under the speedo guage in this bend, so it would be right above the steering wheel and beside the digital speedo...




the screen is going to display song names, times and computer temps when im the gps mode...

all of the pieces, the center guage trim, screen bezzel and the trim under the speedo are all going to be painted the colour of the car, this trim if you look close had a pitted look to it like a golf ball so i need to smoth it out first...

ok last progress pics untill i get it in primer, here is a shot of the test fit and the 2 hours that i had to spend in trimming...

and the thing after a bit of block sanding then more epoxy...

and this is the magic stuff, i used one pack on this sofar, no bad too bad that it costs $15 for the two tubes...

Like the dash so far. Can't wait to see how it looks later on. Regarding the VFD Are you running Windows or Linux? (I know in Linux theres lcdproc but haven't heard of anything similar in Windows).

I'm running windows, and smartyLCD to run the screen, it can display newscats or anything...

glad to see someone else using a vfd, I'm planning one in my current install, its nice because mine has 25 button inputs, and 6 general purpose outputs to control basically anything. I'm using LCDC for my software

Im not sure what you mean? what would it obstruct? it will be destracting for sure, the vent isnt obstructed either... My first virsion was had the vent cut in half, but im a bit glad that that one got destroyed...

I think that yours is comming along nicely...

not obstructive, obtrusive which means Thrusting out; protruding or Undesirably noticeable, in another arent you wooried its gonna attract unwanted attention
