hmmm that blows lol... i'd have to make an extension for them molex connector and then i'm back to having to buying a case. Ahhh budget down the toilet again lol Maybe cutting isn't too bad. Do you have any pics of what you ended up having to cut? I only really need to make 2 inchs so it can't be too bad right?

i'm impressed and inspired by your work. all i can say is great job. I have most of my bits and am ready to install this weekend (mx5 - i can think of ZERO carpcs in mx5s :/) and I hope its as successful as your civic install.

did you find your LCD gets very hot at the back? I just took the case off my 7" lilliput last night, and one of the chips was freakin boiling, burnt me, thinking of putting a fan behind that sucker..

humans have a rather low opinion of hot in the electronics world. It will be fine fanless. 60C is still ok for a chip. (~150F)

Wow! Portabuddy,

That looks freakin awesome!

I haven't checked your thread for a while and thought I'd take a peek at your progress (Workring on my own 8th gen atm).

Next time around I'll definitely go for the bigger screen...

Hey portabuddy,

I have another clearance question for you Do you think these dimensions will fit in the radio compartment.

Width: 180mm(7.08")
Height: 104mm(4.09")
Depth: 167mm(6.57")

better yet these dimensions

Width: 178mm(7")
Height: 100mm(4")
Depth: 182mm(7.16")

What do you think? I found some double din cases that might fit my system with a little tweaking but these are the dimensions i have to work with. Its either this or complete case fabricate

there is a cross brace that needs to be cut out, also you will need to unclip and fung-shwee the harnesses a bit.

Yea i'm thinking that too. I don't see any benefit to trying to put it in the dash. Is there something i'm missing? I guess if u wanna move it from car to car it would be a tad easier.
