2000 Dodge Durango - Car PC/New Audio/Complete Dash Fab.

I've finally decided to start my project. I drive a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT and I love it. I've been a lurker on the forums for around a year now and it's always interested me.

My full customization will include:

STAGE 1
  • Research/Design/Construct custom dashboard
  • Build/Install Car PC
  • Install 4ch amp and new door speakers

STAGE 2
  • Build custom sub box for 2 (hopefully 4) 12" Subwoofers
  • Design/Construct new center console to house Car PC

STAGE 3 (If Possible)
  • Find/Buy Grey/Black interior of 2000-ish durago to replace stock tan
  • Design/Construct Digital HVAC

For the dash customization, I need to work around the passenger-side airbag, any thoughts on how to do this?

Wish me luck!
Thanks

Front Mockup

Heres a rough mockup of what the dash will look like. I plan to do a MDF/fiberglass build with brushed aluminium accents on both the dash and center console. It's designed similar to the Chrysler 300 and the new GMC Yukon that I've seen

How should I work with the passenger airbag? I hope it doesn't go off while I'm working!

Here's a revised version of the dash mock up. I relocated the air vents to separate the driver and passenger air.

I've decided to revise my order of attacking this project. I'm probably going to do most of the audio work first. Then I'll start the custom fabrication of the new center console before I attempt the dashboard and doors.

A cheaper way is you can hackoff part on your 1.5 din to make an 7' lcd fit. That what I did with my 2000 durango. good luck
