UPDATE:

- New case from Bybyte.com is ready. I drilled and tapped all the mounting holes for my MB and PSU.

- Made a new VGA and USB connector for my touchscreen that is only about 8" long. I also separated the two rather than have that lame Lilli cable.

- Got a new low-profile right-angle SATA cable because the standard one's big connector was resting against the LCD controller.

- Got the DSX12VD power supply to replace my M2-ATX. This thing works nice and shutdown and startup are working nicely now.

- Had to make some new shielding for the VGA cable and ground the shielding due to VGA noise.

Case is all together and running great.

TODOs:

- New mounting bracket so the case won't rattle in the dash.

- New bezel (to be made from Epoxy stuff by me) for the new enclosure.

I want to do some more cable management but it is not critical...
New SATA and molex power cables coming soon.

I don't think I've reinvented stuff so much as customized it to be an efficient space saver.

Unless you count my front end (not pictured), that's totally reinventing the wheel! Although I don't think any of the other front ends have built in navigation. They all seem to use third party. I wrote my own nav software that is completely integrated using OSM maps.

Still has a couple bugs, though...

I've never heard of OSM Maps. Now that I'm doing a little research, I see that I was looking for something exactly like this about 6 months ago. I even looked into using US Census Bureau maps, because I wanted to write my own mapping software. I just couldn't find free access to all of the maps in a usable format.

That front end looks really good too.

What you saw in the picx was an old picture. I keep trying to take pics but whenever I hit {PRINT-SCREEN] while VS2008 is in debug mode, it won't paste the screenshot...

Yeah Fiero's don't exactly have a lot of space

The best ones I found were at:

http://www.btx.com/

But they have a minimum order of $50 USD

AHHHHHH, your setup is so cute in a way...... I wish mine could be cute, lol. Mine is monstorous, but I just had to have everything known to car pcs'. Plus i drive a Dodge and the opening is so small.... not even your setup would fit it.

Do you have much heat build up, I would assume the LCD builds up heat, because I know my EBY701s', all seem rather warm.

Haha, cute??

The hottest thing is indeed the LCD but I have a fan on the rear of the enclosure that helps a little.

I want to have a lot too. In fact, there are a few pieces that are external. Like a CD in the glove, HD radio bolted behind the dash, etc.

Are you going to be doing anything fancy with graphics? I think that was the main thing that made my build grow out of control, the fact I wanted 4 screens, also sound, I had to have 5.1, tried to upgrade to 7.1 but the Turtle beach SRM sucks big balls. So now im just gonna split the rear speakers at the soundcard for the third row seats.....

PS: who is that girl you always use in your pictures?

Just one screen for me. I am outputting stereo to the amps which run 4 internal speakers like most cars + sub.

The girl is my girlfriend, who thinks I am a huge nerd when she sees me working on this project

For anyone who still cares, here is a teaser pic of my nav program I wrote. I am still working on it and still have to get the names showing up properly without slowing down systems without 3d cards.

This is all in directx and is full 3d with shadows, transparency, customizable colors for all the different road types.

This is zoomed out so you everyone can get a better idea of the different road types.

I just picked these colors to match google maps (before all those blue street-view outlines came)
