Greetings,

this is my 3rd project, but the first one i am going to try to keep a blog on.

so far what i've done:

ripped out factory radio, and replaced it with a Pioneer Premier, installed my lilliput.

the computer is currently mounted inside of a Hoffman 12x10x4electrical enclosure(any industrial electricial supply store should have these little jems)

i am planning on replacing the factory CD player(unhooked) with a slot load DVD player and using a USB adapter, tie it in to the computer.

i have a GPS mouse installed.

i do not currently have the audio tied in.

(btw, anyone have any great ideas for cleaning carpet, previous owner(employer), liked to toss gears and things in the back and passenger side, and have gotten grease/oil stains on the carpet)

The extra holes are from where i had the HDD mounted, i did not take into consideration the height of the video card(i thought it would clear, it is a half height card)

the white mess on the screen, is a drop of super glue, from a previous install, i've not tried anything to remove it yet. I've been considering using nail polish remover and a q-tip

more work is planed on wiring, and if i had the forethought, another 1/2" would have been nice on the back of the MB so i could get the connectors on/off with out removing the MB.

I need to replace my DSATX power supply, i bought it in '05, and it no longer functions, not sure if i will get another DSATX or if i will try a different DC-DC power supply,

so for now i am using an inverter.

Ok, today i hooked up my GPS mouse, and installed the scripts to auto-start the GPS crap in streets & trips.

i've still not tied in the audio, i'm hoping to find my power adapter for my SB Audigy so i don't have to use onboard sound, and to allow me a shorter cable length from the audigy to the head unit

i'm trying to find a decent(and cheap) detailer to clean all the leather and carpets on the inside.

i may end up sending to to be re-upholstered, i dunno yet

get an old towel and some simple green it will restore it all to almost new then just treat the leather after

It may be easiest to just pull the carpeting out to clean it. Then you can replace the pad under it, which is likely soaked with oil. Cleaning the carpet and replacing the pad will help get rid of the machine shop aroma.

Pulling the carpet lets you find all the hidden crud that snuck in, and it's a great opportunity to run wires any way you want.

If the carpet is too far gone, you could send the truck out for recarpeting, but you might want to consider buying a ready-formed carpet from one of the aftermarket houses; some specialize in Chevy/GMC. They aren't hard to install.

i have been thinking about ordering replacement molded carpet, but what a PITA, i really don't want to have to pull all the trim, and seats and mess out.

I'll give the simple green & towel a go, and see what happens. if it does not lift the stains, then i'll look more into replacing the carpet.

anyone have any suggestions on cleaning the leather?
