HOLY S***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
once this project is done, and you have the knowledge of it fresh, any chance you would be willing to build something like this out of a ford radio??

Hi BlueOvalMacMech.
It would be hard. My project is now about 750 Hours of work (project started in march) and 3000€ of investment in research/development. It takes all my free time.
Fore sure, I have learn a lot with this project. I learnt how to hack a protocol of communication (the one of the indash Lilliput), how to develop and program PIC based circuit.
I think my future project would be easier and faster. I need some new product for example this 1/2 DIN indash screen in order to integrate it in the next 2 DIN project but I haven't any way to buy it. It is only sold in RUSSIA!!

Is it possible that you could help me then figuring out how to calculate the 4bit checksum for a 16bit binary code? I have the 16bits and the 4bits for some cases but I would like to figure out the formula how the checksum is calculated.

oh i was looking at how you integrated everything into the panel, and i read another thread (that i posted on) about someone wanting to integrate a cb or scanner into their front end, to which i told them they could always just make a remote plate for the cb and scanner themselves using an empty slot somewhere. got me to thinking about the equipment i got around here that i use in my cars.......and hell i think i will be doing that to my gear lol. i've got a low grade exotic project going on and i'll be damned if i want my cb and scanner breaking up the interior (the antennae will be bad enough, thankfully the ones i have dont look bad lol. i also dont go anywhere without the two in my car) so i do believe i will be making such a panel. on mine however it will be a latched panel, it will flip down as it will be covering the dvd drive for my carputer.

Commell LS-372 + USDC20D shutdown controller
Hi all,
My project run its way but I have some problems.
I have got a problem with Commell LS-372 and USDC20D shut down controller.
The USDC20D shutdown controller use "short to ground" when sending signal to the motherboard power button.
But my Commell LS-372 Motherboard seems to need +5V signal on power button to power up.
I made all tests.
When the motherboard is powered but off, first pin of the power button header is nothing (not grounded, tested with multimeter) and the second is +5V.
If I short to ground the first pin, the second or both, nothing happen. But if I supply +5V to first pin, the motherboard wake up.
My shut down controller do not short pin together, it shorts pins to ground.
But ground , this is not +5V so the motherboard do not wake up.
Can someone help me with a little schema?
When the input in grounded, the output is +5V (or the 2 outputs are connecting together).
Thank you for help.

Hi vtecfelon23.
I have found a solution.
I was right. LS-372 need a +5V signal to power up and the uSDC20 use a "short to ground" signal.
So I modified the uSDC20 adding a little home-made circuit with 78L05 5V regulator and a PNP transistor.

So I modified the uSDC20 adding a little home-made circuit with 78L05 5V regulator a PNP transistor. I also modified routage and added a 4-PINS MOLEX connector in order to connect the USDC directly through the motherboard.
Male MOLEX connector :
Fixations and female MOLEX connector on motherboard :
I will have more free time this week end and I will make updates on my thread.
I hope finish this project before the end of the year (All hardware but not the paint).
