2007 Subaru Forester First install

Ok so I'm doing it

What i've go so far...
VIA ARTiGO Pico-ITX Builder Kit A1000
includes: VIA C7 1GHz Processor, 1 x EPIA PX Pico-ITX Mainboard ect.
1 GB Memory
160 GB PATA Seagate HD
Vakoss USB Bluetooth Dondle
Pharos PB010 USB iGPS-500 GPS Receiver

I'm still debating on displays. I've found good deals on Lilliput EBY701, Shark shk7900 and shk740.

I've downloaded a evaluation copy of Centrafuse and so far i think I'm liking it.

Welcome to the forums, can't wait to see what you end up doing with your car.

Centrafuse is nice and all, but try out some of the skins in Road Runner. There's a few themed for subarus, and one by another forester owner and I think one of the nicest looking skins available. It's not finished just yet, but here's the progress so far:

There are a few other that may interest you as well, so look around and see what is out there.

There is a lot of things that RR can do, and since it's free it's really no risk.

I checked out road runner. While i can definitely see the benefits of having something that customizable and i love the price tag, i don't think i'm quite ready for that just yet. I've gotten my gps dongle, my music and my cell phone pretty much working with CF and those are the three reasons i'm buliding a car PC so i think i'm going to bite the bullet and pay up.

I went ahead and order the Lilliput EBY701 but now i think i'm going to have to return it. After looking around at what other people have done with the Forrester i think i'm going to follow suit and mount the screen in a double din gauge pod on the dash. I ordered the pod and then realized that the 7 3/4" wide EBY701 is probably to big for it.

I think I'll leave my stereo in the car and just connect the Car PC to the aux jack.
The forester has a compartment under the stereo were the lighter and the aux jack are. My computer is about the same height and width of this compartment. If I'm luck I'll be able to mount the computer in there and recess the lighter and aux jack behind it. Which will be great for hooking up my power and sound. Now if only Subaru lighters maintained power after the the car is turned off. Then i'd be set.
