The way the devices work is you have a host computer (the CarPC) then for the number you want to split it, you need a control box for each. So if I want 6 different desktops, that requires 5 different units.

I didn't realize every computer needed to have a box. So at 150 a box that adds up quick but an awesome device.

its actually worse for me because I want the L230, which is $220.00 each. Maybe I can get them to lower the price if I tell them what its for and the fact its going to be for a show car.
EDIT: reconsidering the L230, just to have a mic port and a usb port is $70.00 more. It also has 24bit graphics vs have no idea graphics, lol.

Well actually it looks like only the L series is bought individually for like 220. Looking on tigerdirect the X series offers 3 users for about 250. I suppose though this option lets you keep your pc so that's good.

Yes, I went threw a mission to get this MoBo, and it does everyhting I want. If I upgrade my MoBo, it means I have to install the PC somewhere else. I think the reason it is more expensive is because it has built in DRAM from graphics and what not. Maybe the X series doesnt have that? Plus the USB and mic port are cool, even though I think the USB port can only use flash drives and or is limited on what can be connected to it.

Ok I'm back to the drawing board on which unit to get. The L130 has all standard features, minus a USB port (which is limited) and minus the mic port. Another thing that is missing is 24bit video support. I dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing. Does that mean that the L130 will have $h!++y video playback?
EDIT: Never mind, lol, I have to get the L230. The L130 displays 16bit color which looks really bad. To do a test go to your graphics card options and change it to medium instead of high. It looks so bad. I just wont use the USB and Mic port.

You know you can individually set usb ports to specific virtual computers right? What this allows you to do is say extend a USB port to a seat and make that port specific to the virtual computer. This is probably the route to go if you want to use usb headsets. Otherwise just get a microphone extension cord and build it in somewhere.

Yea, but im not too concered with that. The issue I am having now is the touchscreen thing. I have to see if they can be used on USB to PS2 adapters. If not, im screwed, lol.... I have to wait till I get one of my new Lilliputs to try it out. I can do it on the others because the wires are intergrated into my car to much.

Decided to go out to the car and start scouting for places to install the NComputing terminals. I rarely use the door pockets in each door, so I'm going to put the terminals and KVM switches in those. The third row has no such pockets, so I am going to install them on one side under the cup holders. I will have to extend wires, but its no biggie. To avoid EMI, I will run the wires through the ceiling. The Ethernet switch will go in the rear boot. I may have to get a third PSU to power all this extra equipment. Each unit uses 5V each, I am not sure on AMPS though. Since my electrical panel under the seat is full, I am going to create a new panel in the small compartment were my mini amps use to be. All Ethernet cabling will be run through the roof, along with audio cabling for each seat. It is much easier to take out the headliner then to try to smash even more cabling under the carpet. There is alot more stuff to work out, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
These are the door pockets. I will make a fake floor for each pocket. Basically it wont be deep like before.

Here is the rear area were the last 2 terminals will go.

Here is were the buttons will go for the third row.

Buttons for the doors will go with the current controls there.
Another option could be to mount them in the door behind the door panel. If for some reason I have to fix anything though, I would have to take the door panel off.

That is true, lol..... OH God the Grand Voyaguer, lol.... Yes, do lots of research, if not u'll end up like me, lol.....
I got my case of Cat5 ethernet cable today. I am going to remove the head liner and put all Cat5 through there. That way I dont get inference. One thing I wonder, is if I should run the speaker wire through the head liner also. Basically I want to move the speaker wire away from any power wire. What do you guys think? One thing that is conserning me is all the extra cables. I now have to redirect all screens to the doors, to the KVM switches, then from those to the L230 terminals, then to the VGA splitters. That is alot of wire. I may have to locate the KVM to a central location where they wont build up cabling. Im going to have to take my time with this phase of my install.

And you may want to consider heavy duty shocks and some beefier springs to support all that cable.
Do you plan to pull the headliner all the way out and just lay the cable in like you're building from scratch, or are you going to pull it one segment at a time?

LOL, that is a plan, but for when I mod the car for performance.
It only comes out as one massive piece. It requires 2 people to avoid bends.
Another issue has come up, maybe someone can help. The KVM cannot power the wireless keyboard. So I may have to go wired, I really dont want to do that. Is there another way to power the dongle? Also will it work having 6 wireless keyboards? Im scared they may interfere with each other. I may have to go wired. That would kill alot of headache unless someone know a simple solution.

You could try a USB KVM -- one intended for USB keyboards and mice -- and use RF keyboards on different frequencies. Sad to say, though, that the good RF keyboards are outrageously priced.
Wired keyboards have clear advantages: they're low-cost, and they don't get "mis-appropriated" at car shows.

That is true..... I am just curious to know though if a touchscreen will work through a PS2 adapter. If yes, then that says so much headache, but if not then its going to be a headache. I could go USB KVM, but how will I convert it back to PS2 for the L230 terminals? This is starting to get more complicated then I like, but I will keep going.
Ive decided to strip my car later today and start wiring the Cat5 cable. and other electrical cables. Thankfully I had a box of 1000ft of it, I just need someone to attach the connectors on the end. The stereo wire will also be run through the top, to avoid any EMI.
