Hmm it seems our friend has sought you out also. He is just trying to get a rise out of us. It is sad when one has to cowar behind a screen to heckle someone else. That is ok a little competition is what drives ingenuity!

Well, competition is one thing... but being an absolute jerk about someone else's install when yours is no better? I don't even know what to call that. e-Penis envy?

Well I am sorry for my out burst. I really just hate people like that. I think it is e-Penis envy, I dont think he really even has an install otherwise he would have posted pictures and made a worklog. I am still mad about this guy, I mean I am furious. Its not everyday people can get that far under my skin, but this guy is a piece of work.

PS: Saw his worklog, he didnt even mold the screen into the dash. He simply cut a hole in the dash and put a screen behind it.

Hijack, obviously that guy is a noob. Anyone who has done this a while knows that the project is never done, and we are always rebuilding. Personally I think you are insane, but thats a good thing. Been following this tread from the beginning and I love your ideas. Way over the top for me but thats because Im too chicken to try anything like this.

Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing some new pics.

Thanx........... yea I am insane. In the beginning i didnt want to mod the car at all, but then I realized that I luv my truck alot, and it will most likely be my final car, so I said to h3ll with it. It was only supposed to be one PC , but then someone put the multi thing in my head, and I acted on it. There is no way to turn back now because I have modded the car already, lol.

Do you have a install, if yes, in what kind of car?

Yes but unfortunatly all my pictures were hosted on yahoo and they were deleted when they merged thier photo galleries into flickr.

I have a 1999 Ford F150. I am dieing to buy a new truck cause the dash of the '99 is not the best for a carpc. But it works for now.

I plan to rip it all out and install a faster computer and some other updates this fall.

Well I wish you luck. I love the older F series trucks, they all had a face look to them. I hear you on design, I got so lucky with my truck.... Had a got a 98-2000 I would have the same issues like you. Thankfully I found a 2003. At the same time, remember you could always have someone redesign the dash for you.

I think quite a few of us are on the insane side. We all want more out of our car entertainment than a stock or already existing 3rd party equipment. It takes a lot of love and attention to bring a CarPC to fruition.

I don't know if I like the fruition word, makes me feel like a gardener. You are correct though, we are all insane. I just think I took a bigger bite though.

--------------------------------------

Well I think I forgot to mention that I did order the alternator. I have major concerns that I will have to mod the unit though, which means a auto mechanic with the right tools has to do it, money I do not want to spend.

I also got in my second window roll up module. One will be used to lower all my windows and the other to raise them. This is good for lazy days when I just want to get out my car and go since the remote has a range of one mile. This is especially handy for hot days, if I can open my windows before I get to the car, I will suffer less.

As far as my PC goes. It kept displaying the wrong time every time I turn it on after a long time. I changed the CMOS battery and alot of the issues went away, like windows xp jumping back and fourth between regular and classic mode. I ran to Walgreen's and bought new CR2032 batteries and put them in. The first day I still had the time issue, but today after turning it on, the time was correct. Do these batteries have to charge or something? Also something that plagued my install is that when I hit power it takes about 5 seconds to start powering on. I thought it was a delay from the OPUS 320 to the Mobo, but while I am bench testing, I am using a normal desktop PSU and still having the same pause. All the fans come on, but BIOS takes a long time to come up (5 sec). When the CMOS battery was running low, it took almost 15 sec for BIOS to come up. I am wondering if maybe something was damaged on the board. When I did all my mods I never took the mobo out while doing tons of wood and metal work. I think something may have been permanently damaged. Its no biggie though. As far as install wise, every basic thing is loaded up. After doing that I used CloneZilla to make a fresh copy of the drive so if anything happens I do not have to start from complete scratch.

I have finished the plastic work on my center console. Basically Rampage (the makers of the center console I bought) taught me to use plastic sheets to create curves. I had to make the bottom wider then the top in order for it to fit over the PC. The plastic sheets allowed me to make it one seamless piece. This should make it easy for the upholsterer. My next wood work plans are to make the box that will cover all the equipment in the back. I am making it out of MDF and the plastic to give it a round shape on the corners. Another project is a small one, I need to make a special tray for the front console to hold the mini DVR and to make a place for small storage, seeing a gapping hole with wires and electronics isn't looking very professional. The wood will then be covered in a velvet looking material to make it look normal. The second console will also have a velvet inside to match.

Anyways, thats all for now.

Whether you use "cultivate" or "fruition", it's a classy touch. And it would be even more appropriate if we were working on Apple PCs.

After having so many issues with the IEI AMD Kino-690S1, I have decided to dump AMD and go to a INTEL based board like 95% of users on here. I have found a board that exceeds my board but not sure about it. Here is the link to that discussion. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gene...-any-good.html.

The Kino is just to unstable for the car. Also my laptop, which I am using as a desktop, is finally seeing its end of days. I am going to turn the Kino into a desktop and save up and buy the MSI. The board is OK priced, very similar to my board, but the processor is about $250.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really want the 2.53 dual core, so I'll have to thrown down the money. I am hoping to find it on Ebay cheaper.

Finally got through this entire thread! Man what a great job you are doing on the durango, idea and implementation. Your consoles looked good, but I can tell you, like me, are a perfectionist when it comes to certain things like wiring and fabrication. Anyways, looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

You should run windows server 2003 or linux and cluster all your PC's so when it's only you driving you can harness the processing power of all six machines, muhahahaha!

LMAO..... So you got to also see my randomness, how I change my mind constantly. Problem is I have to many ideas and implementation is frustrating sometime. The final console is actually finished, construction wise. I learned alot from Rampage when I took theirs apart. Every part of the console is nice and rounded and should be simple to upholster. I was going to use the same person that did the first console, but he cut corners complaining that he couldn't do it the normal way, due to my design. This console is still on the lines of what rampage did, just wider bottom to accommodate the PC. We are anal about perfection, your install is so spot on, except that wifi dongle sticking out, lol. The wiring was a nightmare because I was so concerned with heat, and all the wires making the carpet stick up. Thats why in the end I took most of the interior out, much easier to work with.

OH damn, why did you tell me that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What would I call that a octuplet core system, lol? OMG you put another idea in my head. I wonder if CF2 or 3 will work with Server 2003!
