I found out yesterday that my store is closing in a couple weeks. I have two options:
Transfer to another store or department in the company,

or

Take a severence package and look for a new job.

I've been with the company 3 years and 10 months, and I'm tired of working there, there's nothing new to learn, there's nothing challenging me anymore, and it's not worth the dismal pay increase to get promoted, so I think I'm going to take the severence package and some time off.

If I do that, I'll be paid a bonus, my unused vacation time, and about 14 weeks worth of pay. If I find a new job within that time, I'll be getting both paychecks still.

What does that mean for the project? With some time off and a little extra money, I can work on relocating the amp, finishing the lower bezel, getting the carnetix and car2pc adapters and trying to finish this all up.

Anyone have any leads on a position in the denver/metro area? preferably near lakewood?

Off to search for a better job...

What kind of work are you looking for? What kind of work would you want to do?

What kind of work could you get if you went in and said you wanted to learn how to do it, and you'd apprentice for free for a month? That would let you start developing the skills needed and give them time -- at no cost -- to see how valuable you could be. You could afford that right now . . .

I look at the excellence of your work you've shown us on MP3Car, and the writing skills you have, and think there must be a place that can use those talents. I don't know your people skills, but I've never read any snotty remarks from you here, so you seem to do okay there, too.

This step into the unknown is a temporary crisis; I hope it can be a great opportunity for you.

Sorry to hear that man. It always sucks having to look for another job. But like rdholtz said, this can be a great opportunity to learn something new so make use of it.

I'm not alone! Woohoo!

This is my first post.

I'm building an '07 PT touring convertible -- which makes a lot of things really difficult. Fun though.

Thanks for the great ideas. I am as I type staring at the back of the front panel where the touchscreen needs to go (removed from the car) and thinking to myself, I'm going to have to cut this up, aren't I?

I won't hijack your post, great work, keep those images coming... I'll start my own build thread sometime soon.

Nice to see another PT on here, and welcome to the forum.

What size screen are you looking to put in there? I know a 7 will fit easily, but I had to shoehorn the 8 in there. You might look into the transreflective screens, especially for when you drop the top.

I'm occasionally on other PT forums under the same name, but my home is here, and I update this more often.

Again welcome and good luck with your install.

Thanks, the bass isn't overwhelming, but I've tried driving without a sub, and I couldn't stand having a whole section of my music missing. I wanted something discreet, but that could still perform.

Yea, originally I wanted that too. I had two 10s. The box was big, and my dogs hated it. So I took it out. I bought me a 650 watt motorcylce amp... I hope to get maybe a 10 or 12 that can neatly fit in 1 corner without taking up space.

With the way I set it up, It's a matter of three buttons to turn the sub completely off from the deck, so If I've got passengers (my GF or our dog) they don't have to endure the booming. The derange-o you could probably put a ten in the side of one of those rear panels, and have it basically not take up any extra space.

What is a little funny about that post is that my worklog takes up half my signature...

If you missed the worklog, you probably missed monkeyracer's "Favorite Thread EVER", too, and it's priceless stuff. If it doesn't bring tears of laughter, you're much too serious . . .

hahaha yea I know.... i hardly pay attention to the sigs, my fault. Stop calling my car Derange-o, there is nothing derange-o about it.... well except the fact its a big SUV with no storage space, no space for cabling and happens to be a dodge dakota and a caravan smushed together, other then that its a normal car, lol

That's what I called my GF's old Durango, and now every single Durango is heretofore known as a Derange-o.

Shoot, the PT is practically a Sebring, Neon, and a little dakota all mixed together. Chrysler likes to mush up their cars to make something slightly different.

Using a Xenarc 702tsv. It was definitely worth the extra cost for 1000 nit, and yeah it makes a helluva difference in dierect sun. I got into this because i had a Pioneer DVH-5700 that I could just not see- among other reasons, lol. I hacked the dash panel apart some and just surface-mounted it for now using the case the screen came in like a clamshell, with the dash panel in between the two pieces and some longer screws. It fits perfectly between the rockers for the windows and the button panel below. I need to figure out what to do with the holes from the OEM radio, and really need to mount it better. Biggest challenge right now, though, is getting the sound right in the vehicle- tough to do with the drop top. I'm going to have to get an upgraded sound card with better drivers; problem is I really want a pcie card that's slimline and will fit my case, and I am demanding RCA plugs too so my options are really limited. These little miniplugs have a terrible way of falling out/getting loose, etc. my other big issue is radio. I'm installing XM next week.

Have you done any performance mods on yours that you liked more than others?
