2004 Chrysler Sebring

So… first of all, I have to say that I’ve been here for about year and half. After such a long time spent on such a wonderful information source (gods bless all of you guys), I can say that I got a clear view what my installation will be looking like.

OK, let me begin my detailed write-up of the project.

The Car

Mission
To replace a stock HU with fully loaded multimedia navi system, looks like CarPC is the best way to go. Here is a picture of the dash, just for the reference:

The HU will be taken away and the HVAC will be relocate to the lower part, where the CD changer is shown on the picture

Plan
+ Relocate HVAC control (and change it with Automatic Climate Control, which is originally from a LHX or 300M)
- Fabricate a support plate to install LCD in place of stock HU & HVAC
+ Remove stock amplifier and speakers with aftermarket (Front + sub)
- Connect steering wheel buttons to CarPC
- Install back-up cam
- Install other accessories (EVDO, WiFi, BT, dash cam, front view cam whatsoever)

Parts
+ motherboard Zotac nForce 610i-ITX
+ CPU Core 2 Duo E6550
+ 1024Mb 800MHz DDR2
+ HDD Samsung 120 Gb 2.5" SATA
+ PSU M4-ATX

+ Touchscreen LCD SHK840 by Shark
+ GlobalSat EM-411-rs232
- Rear View Cam
- EV DO modem Cmotech CNU-550
- Web cam (to be installed in the dash)
- Mic
- Front View Cam
- Wifi Adapter USB
+ Bluetooth Adapter USB
- USB Hub w/ power

to be continued

So far, what I can tell you guys is that I was about to do all the job within our New Year holidays (took about two weeks). Damn, I was so self-confident...
I've been worked everyday on the holydays, then every single weekend, and it is only now I am about to finish base part of the project!

Here are two pictures just to show you the conditions I had to work in.

Comrade Nermin, I'm just working on it ))

Posted some pictures, but not of my car. I've recently had a accident, hit a nice Mercedes S-klasse in its back haha, so I prefer not to take any pictures before I got my sweetie fully repaired. However, I ride exactly the same car as the one on the pics.

Update

Up to now I've done following things:

1. Replaced stock HU with Pioneer DEH-6010MP
There are 2 main reasons I've decided to go with HU additionally to CarPC:
- I need FM radio and personally I think that so far a regular HU is the best way to have a radio in a car
- Boot-up time in winter time. Here we often have -15 -20 degrees (Celsius) on nice fresh winter morning, which I believe causes long delay in system boot-up. So I'll be able to listen the HU while HDD is taking some warm

2. Replaced stock Infinity amp with Crunch P900.4
Just because I'd found that stock one is controlled via BCM and some special adapter is needed to use it without stock HU. So i decided just to throw away this piece of crap and install a new cheap amp.

3. Removed all this crappy stock speakers (three pairs!) and installed DLS B6A in front, plus subwoofer (not done yet)

to be continued
