Try the M2-ATX. It fits in your case, and the standoff mounts are already there. It should run your Atom; if it doesn't, we're both in trouble, because that's what's going to power mine.

Stick the Pico on eBay and the MP3Car classifieds, and announce its sale in your worklog. At least you won't eat the whole price.

I'm planning on sticking a whole lot of my extra parts in the classifieds, because I have yet to learn how to sell stuff on eBay. I need to, so I can get some extra $$$ for this project. I may have to rig up my own regulation circuit. I've seen serveral wiring schematicson how to do it. I could probably even use some of my spare parts to do it. Now I just need to and

The m3 could power it, but you'll have to wire up the P4 power connector somehow. If I were you I'd stop messing with pico psus and buy an M2. But if you do get the M3, I'll be interested to hear how it works.

[RANT]
I have decided...
Two words...
F*** IT!!

I'm sticking with the inverter and desktop PSU. Tidder is right. I just burnt about $100 on worthless S*!T I can't use. If I can find a cheap 12V DC-DC regulator, I'll go with my PicoPSU. If I can sell this useless crap, I'll order an M2, since it fits in the case(thanks RDHoltz)
[/RANT]

Now that that's been said, I'm still waiting on Saul to have an available day to shrink the case enough to fit under my seat. Hopefully we can get that and my wires done so I can quit obsessing about my passengers(and myself) getting caught on wires...

Remember if you do a regulation circuit, that the rule is, it has to be power 1 volt higher then the output. So to regulate to 12v, your car has to be putting out 13 volts.

See your rushing again. Just slowly save up for the M2.

I'll make you a deal. I'll trade you one or both of your pico PSUs that you have for one of my spare M2-ATX PSUs. Let me dig them out and test them, then we'll talk. Sound good?

I'm not even in this, but I think that's a respectable deal.

If it gets you going on your install, who cares? They're just collecting dust here.

IIRC, a car's battery hits about 14.4VDC doesn't it?

A battery will run at 14.4 when the car is driving.

If he's not using the M2-ATX, then I dont think it will bother him. It will get you going, and he'll get the satisfaction that the thing is finally being used for something.

I agree.

I'm not 100% sure about this stuff, I have never ever done research, but my logic is that the alternator puts out the 14.4V. When comes out of the battery after the alternator does its thing is a different story though. The battery is also having to power things like your ECU, Lights, and a few other things, you also have to take resistance into account, so I have to assume that 14.4V drops down.

I am really not sure. I also think it depends on how many amps the alternator puts out. Currently my Alt puts out about 136 AMPS. Everyday though, when I turn on my car, my PC doesnt start up, because of its dead battery eliminator feature. I am going to upgrade to a 220 AMP Alt to correct this issue. My install is also overboard, I think I can make inspector gadgets car look like sh!+ compared to mine. So I need alot more power. To answer this question, I think I got to get me a volt meter and do testing. Once I get it, I will test from the battery, then test if there is a drop as it makes its way through all the cabling. I will do the tests while the car is on and off.

OK, my other Pico came in today. As a side note, I got a bad@$$ cold air intake and muffler/exhaust put in today as well. I'll add some pix in a few minutes.
