I think it's pretty decent of you to take care of her. Some people wouldn't; you're a good man.
My bet is they'll change her diet. Help her stay on the new track with some gentle encouragement, and tell her often you're proud of her for staying on it. It'll help, and -- although I don't know what your relationship is like -- that's kind of unexpected from most teenagers.

They've already told her to change the diet. This isn't the first time something like this happened. She was having minor heart attacks in 2001. December 26, 2001 she went to the ER with chest pains that she thought was heartburn. She had been taking Alka-Seltzer, which the doctors said was saving her because it has something in it like Asprin or something... But they airlifted her to Lubbock and fixed her up and I took care of her then. She's 67, I'm 16. This is no surprise for me. But at least I can drive this time around.

I have a Mitral Valve Prolapse, with major big time mitral regurgitation. They told me in the beginning that it wasn't a big deal, that its common in women. Then it kept getting worse and worse till I was bed ridden for almost a year. This cr@p has also caused neurological damage, I'm deaf in one ear from it, major memory lose (I literally do not remember child hood at all) and half the time, you know when you leg falls asleep, like little needles poking you, imaging that on your face and other parts of your body times 100 for almost 3 hours at a time. All the meds they have to fix it do not work anymore. Also when I get mad (everyone knows I have a temper) my heart cannot handle adrenaline so I will literally collapse after an argument. Cant drink caffeine or any stimulant. They say the valve is going to fail resulting in complete heart failure. They say they can replace it, but I will most likely be in pain and have to have the valve replaced every so often, also I will have to take blood thinners for all my life. Id rather just kick the bucket and move on. The life stream did this to me for some reason, so I'm not going to fight destiny.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. Who knows? Maybe God(or Fate, or whatever you believe) will throw you a curveball and you'll live to a ripe, old age.

Nah, i can kinda feel it slipping away.... Although lately it has changed. Before I had a bad kicking feeling, but recently its gone. Instead it feels like im light headed alot, but no pain. Only thing that i can think of is maybe my eldest dogs life force is affecting me somehow. He is currently dying from old age, everyday he gets worse and worse. I believe that when a dog and his master become really close, they share life force, they grow a bond that cant be broken. I think hes reaching like a light bulb stage, you know how before a light bulb blows out, it sends a final huge flash of light before it dies. I think this is what is happening now. Hes putting out alot of energy and will die soon. I wont fill your thread with my beliefs though, lol.

Well, my Dad had an aortic valve replaced many years ago. He also had mild mitral valve prolapse at the time. Back then, they couldn't fix both, so they fixed the worst of the two. Later on, as the mitral valve prolapse got worse, he started running out of steam, because unoxygenated blood would mix with oxygenated blood, and he wouldn't get enough oxygen into his system. He got gradually weaker, and they finally said he was too weak to survive mitral valve surgery, or any major surgery.
Dad was on blood thinners for almost 20 years, and -- while he didn't like it -- it was worth it. He said open heart surgery really kicked his butt for six months, but after that, it was worth it.
I respect your decision to accept what you're dealt, but I wonder if another cardiac specialist might give a different answer, perhaps even one that would make it worthwhile to consider the surgery.

Maybe it is time to get a new evaluation, because I have so many other side effects going on. They say its the MVP, but I am wondering if its something else.

Posting this for freeflashstuff
He asked me to post on his behalf. For some reason he cannot post:
5:33 PM: I took some time to update my first post to match the current setup and current notes/works in progress. I plan to do the fans on the panel when I get back. Mom's been in and out. They did the procedure and she ate a little and passed out. She should get released in the morning. God willing.

I cleared the cache and cookies, etc maybe I can get through now. She's concious(sp?) and eating again. She has to lay flat until 11pm so her "wound" can heal. She should be released tomorrow afternoon. Then we can go home! That'll be a fun drive. Especially in her giant Yukon XL...

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about all your mom's troubles. Let me know if I can do anything for you guys, or if you need anything. Glad to hear she's getting released today. Careful on the drive home, lots of crazies down south!

rdholtz: Done. She says thanks.
Tidder: All is well. She just needs sleep.
OTOH: I'm gonna use what spare time I may have to work on the cooling fan system for the CarPC. I think I'm gonna try something with a Peltier(spelling?) cooler I got from eBay before this all happened and see if I can't use it to create some coolness. (one side = hot the other = cold when electricity is applied) I ordered it to make my glovebox a minifridge but idk if that's gonna work out like I want...

Peltier cooling usually only works with direct contact with the peltier pad and the object being cooled. I wanted to try that route, but the fact that the way a peltier system works is that one side gets cold, but the other side gets hot. I think you may be over thinking this, which I did on mine also, but in the end the simple strategy worked out the best. I would stick with the fan idea and leave it at that.
