Well after buying another car and dealing with stock navi (and more importantly without a carpc) for a month or so the time has come for me to dive back into putting one in. I had an 2001 GTI with the a carpc that suited me very well.

Moving forward here is a pic of my new ride..
The plan is to pull out the navi stock screen and the dvd rom and install the carpc in the upper cubby hole. I'm planning on purchasing the g35 housing from
here. I plan to sell the Navi system and dvd system for $800 so if you're interested or know anyone that is let me know. I upgraded the maps disc to 2008 so hopefully I can offset some of the costs. I'm open to offers too.
As far as the hardware goes I'll probably everything from the previous install and put it in the new one. I looked into getting one of the newer Intel board because I have an extra core2dup laying around but figured I'd just stick with the Jetway board for now.
I guess my biggest issues will be location of the pc and installation of the g35 housing. I've read a lot of different places that the housing is made specifically for non navi versions of the radio cage so I guess I'd need to see what's different. Has anyone pulled out their screen and went with the housing? I've seen a lot of double din installs but hadn't seen anyone that has replaced the navi with this housing.
Down the road I will look into replacing the speakers and getting my sub put in. The 4080 boxes look pretty cool but I figure I need to get this done first.
Here's a quick run thru of parts w/ links for anyone that's interested.
