Buick Park Avenue 1997-2005 Ultra

I just want to control all the electrics with the computer.

Stage I
laptop. I'm not very good at fabrication. Later I'll find someone to help me with a touch screen display.

Stage II
Fusion Brain
A few relays for simple on/off things.
Trunk lock
gas cap lock
door locks
Rear Defrost
Heated seats
Interior lights

Stage III
ODB and GPS I plan on using something that I can just load on the computer and plug into the odb port.

Stage IV
Power windows
Power Moonroof
current sensing so I don't take anyones fingers off with the windows, detecting window is open or closed, detecting moonroof open, closed, or up.

Stage V
Rain sensing to shut the moon roof

Stage VI
8 way power memory seats
Power memory mirrors

Stage VII
Servo controled dual temperature

Parts List

$1500.00 1997 240HP SuperCharged Buick Park Avenue Ultra from the charity lot.
$1100.00 Taxes, Tires, and miscelaneous car repairs
$1500.00 PC and display (Haven't clicked submit yet I hope I can get a nice one for 15bills)
$.100.97 Fusion Brain with 4 relays and isolator board
$.399.00 Laptop for prototyping controls
$..69.99 Laptop Extended Warranty
$.139.95 ElmScan 5 USB OBD-II by ScanTool
$...0.00 Dash Command Lite Software
$..23.20 Wiper motor from the u-pull lot. Now I can park my rain sensitive wipers.
$5864.11

If you look at the pictures you can see I have memory seats with exit button. I just have to put a relay across the button this will be very easy. I have a climate control system and some buttons on stearing wheel. There's a built in power amp in the trunk and it rocks ok. Sound system will be absolute last and I'll probably have to cousin to help.

I'm starting at stage two with my prototyping laptop a fusion brain and the gas cap lock.

I sure wish I could find a good example of interfacing the fusion brain with ride runner. I need to do momentary switches.

edit I found out I'm doing a "Vote" switch.

Try doing a simpler search -- like "fusion roadrunner".

I hate to steal Tidder's thunder here, but how 'bout some pics of the car and the dash?

Uploading Pictures to MP3Car.com

It's easy, it's pretty fast, and uploading -- instead of attaching -- keeps your pictures from getting lost or blocked. Size limits are 1524x1524 pixels, and no larger than 2MB per image.

At the top of the MP3Car page, click on User CP in the toolbar, and then Upload an Image. You can do multiple images at a time. Once you get them uploaded, you'll be redirected to your images, or you can go to User CP in the toolbar, and then My Images. Copy the "BB Code with URL" into your worklog where you want your picture to appear.

I usually work with two browser tabs open so I can go back and forth between the post and the pictures.

I center the pictures. When applicable, I also include text to suggest the reader can enlarge the photo(s):

When I put pictures side-by-side, I leave two spaces between them, and I usually leave an open line above and below the pictures.

It's even easier than that. See that link for "Quick Upload" under the smilies when you go to post a message? Just click on it, browse to the image, click on "Host It" and there you go, the photo is added to your photo collection and a link is auto-inserted into the post.

Yeah, I've been looking for that same button. All I can find is the "rustic editor" button.

Received the fusion brain and I was able to turn one of the outputs on and off. whoo hooo and I also had limited success with the fusion brain editor.

Found this cool site to make buttons with.cooltext.com/Buttons actually it was in my favorites just wanted to share.

My screens not mounted in the dash but I do have a mount setup for it. Can't go without the radio now can I?

Short term todo:
1. Get a project enclosure for FB
2. Get a project enclosure for relays
3. Get a 12v power supply and test fb and relay.
4. Hook a relay across the gas cap button thought about doing the trunk button but that would suck if the trunk opened while I was driving down the road.
5. Take some more pictures everyone seems to like pictures.

Check Mouser for project boxes. At this link, they show 6,481 types and sizes to choose from.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at a polycase sl-53 and its just like mouser I end up paying $7 in shipping for a $2 case. So tomorrow after work I'm stoping at radioshack to pick up one of their seven dollar cases I figure I'll save two dollars. Thanks again for the link.

With some small modifications to the enclosure fb v4 fits perfectly in a $2.29 radioshack 270-1801 project enclosure

I just had to carve out all the insides with a Dremel carving bit. You don't need a Dremel I used a pwr drill. Cut holes in end for the usb port and external power. Cut a hole in the top for the outputs/Inputs

I did my cuts free hand tomorrow I'm going to use a router on another box but this one is perfect for the desk/bench.

Snap

Its driving three relays now. I'm seeing how hot it gets now a four hour test.

Update. The fb v4 case is working great. It doesn't get hot like a laptop brick but it gets hot.
