'08 Kia Rio5 Carputer In-Dash Install

So I am finally starting in on this project. I have decided that the entire thing will be located in the double-din dash area. Here is what I have purchased thus far:

Here is what I have so far:
  • Lilliput 7" EBY701-NP/C/T VGA Touch screen (waiting for it to arrive)
  • M2-ATX-HV 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU
  • Intel D201GLY2A SiS662 w/Celeron 1.2GHz
  • TEAC DW-224SL Slot Loading CDRW/DVD Combo
  • Seagate Momentus 5400.4 120GB SATA/300 5400RPM
  • 1GB Crucial Ballistix Ram
  • Microsoft Pharos GPS-360 GPS Receiver
  • 4x100 Amplifier

Still to buy:
  • DIRECTED DMHD1000 HD Radio Receiver
  • Speaker Wire

Below are pictures of my current dash, and what I want it to look like.

I will start work on the case tonight. Hopefully take some pictures as well. Comments, suggestions, etc welcome.

That would be a nice factory looking mod. Can't wait to see the worklog.

nice to see some car manufacturers are sticking with the plain old double din radio design what is the slot on the bottom for now? Looks like for minidiscs or something lol. I think what u'll have to do for a clean looking install is remove the clock portion(redundant anyway) and move your cd-rom up into the double din. I'm interested in seeing it either way though. Good luck

Well, as far as I know, that Rio is just a slightly restyled 3rd gen Hyundai Accent so you might want to check out my worklog.

As for the screen, you're not going to get a full fill of the DIN area like in your mockup. Check out some of the DIN conversion kits for the 7" screens and they all have some bezel. An 8", like I have, is closer but you may end up doing some fabrication to make it fit.

Check out where the clips and such are behind the bezel to be sure you have room for the CD and button relocates. You may not be able to clip your bezel back on depending on where the clips are.

Give a holler if you need a hand. Your Rio might be close enough to my Accent that I could help.
