Aspire One carputer - 83 Mitsi Sigma
This is my worklog for my Acer Aspire One carputer which I will be installing in my 1983 Mitsubishi Sigma.
The reason I am using a netbook is that I already have it and use it frequently for my university work, so I'm going to dock it in my car rather than installing a permanent carPC.
It seems a problem with laptops is powering them, but I'm just going to use a cigarette lighter power adaptor, and turn it on/off manually.
The audio amps will also be switched manually.
I already have the following hardware:
Aspire One netbook
Sony car audio amps/speakers
Old gamepad for steering wheel buttons
Old lego webcam for reversing camera
Inverter
12v minifridge/cooler
Portable CD-ROM/DVD
Bluetooth dongle
Battery voltage meter
USB DVB tuner
Vodafone Vodem mobile broadband
Coming soon:
Garmin GPS 18 USB
The car...
I will most probably use Centrafuse as frontend, and nRoute for GPS.
I'll leave the old HU in place for short trips or when I want FM.
Installation of hardware hasn't started yet as the car needs rust repaired first.
The first thing to do will be installing the audio gear.
Pictures coming when I eventually get started...
