When I got the car

The Original Plan
  • Get a mATX motherboard and put that behind the dash instead of the stock radio.
  • Move climate control down.
  • Mount CD on the extreme top of were the climate control was.
  • Mold Xenarc case in the place of the climate control.
  • Use a touchpad for input into the cupholder.

Changed plan

  • No chance for a 10x10 motherboard with PCI
  • Touchpad is useless.
  • Will try to gut the glovebox and mount the motherboard near the feet and use the space from the glovebox for more space.
  • Couldn't have done any of this w/o Ethan (my friend)

Look after taking dash out

How it looked afterwards

Looks like it has potential, keep it up

That's what I hate about doing quick work on my car, no turn signals when I need to run and get something.

I was with my friend Ethan when we went to celebrate that we opened up my dash successfully and we're like where the **** did the turn signals go? And then we started laughing

Oh yeh, the panasonic DVD won't fit were I wanted it. So we removed the cupholder and we're mounting in there vertically

My friend actually told me to do that

Thanks I'm planning to have some serious power... something like an Athlon XP-M, and Sound Blaster, and WiFi. Still have to crack open the glovebox... That's for today

I am ready to start the carputer project in my 93 SC300 5 speed. As far as I can tell, the LinITX 7" screen is just about a perfect fit to replace the factory head unit.

I plan on putting the entire PC in the trunk. I will be following this project closely ... and try and post pics of mine as well.

Hey 0l33l,

Great start on the project. I wish I could get my hands on an SC400 (Or 300 ). They're just way too expensive for me to keep gassed up. Damn Premium. Damn San DIego expensive gas prices.

Peace,

Rafster

Nice car, I wish I had a manual. Grandma would only buy me a auto, but I'll swap in a different tranny Anyway, with the Xenac, I had to do a LOT of cutting! Me and my friend ended up taking out lots of screen supports and we still aren't done! Also paint is a *****. More on that later.

One of the guys on clublexus got a SC300 5-speed from Sand Diego and drove it to Boston. Then from there he drove back to go to college in Cali and someone ended up rear ending him and totalling the car. Anyway, the car is a gas hog! People actually report better gas mileage on the SC400s than the 300s I usually get about 240miles per tank, but I drive like, hmmm, fast The freeway mileage should be excellent. And the cars are now pretty cheap

[Edit]: Substituted tank for galon - thanks Frodo

Damn. I mean per tank. The gas tank is 20 galons, likes to eat 91octane fuel, and sits wedged between the runk and the rear seat giving me some of the smallest trunkspace ever

Just out of curiosity, I wouldn't kill the car with regular unleaded, right? I just wouldn't get the right kind of performance, right?

Peace,

Rafster
