2005 Nissan Altima
Hi all,
This is just to let you know what I have, and where it is going.
The car:
2005 Nissan Altima 2.5s w/ Convience Package, Majestic Blue, 19" Kyowa Racing KR206 wheels with 235/35R19 Falken Azenis ST-115 tires, Windows tinted w/ 28% fronts and 15% rears.
The carPC:
AMD Mobile XP 2400+ CPU in a Chaintech 7nif4 motherboard
Athenatech A106 Case (silver/blue)
Opus 150W Power Supply
512MB Kingston HyperX PC-2700 RAM
200GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive w/NCQ
Panasonic Slim Slot Load DVD/CDRW inside USB Enclosure
OEM GPS
MiniKey PS2 Keyboard
Xenarc 7" TSV Monitor
2 7" Headrest Monitors
Windows XP Home Edition
The Plan:
This is where the computer will be installed in the trunk. It doesn't look too good in the pictures, but it won't take up much room and looks good in person.
This is a poorly done picture of what the dash will be like. The Slim DVD drive will go in the compartment above the monitor.
Still To Go:
I still need to get my audio equipment. I am leaning towards and Infinity setup with 6.5" components in the doors and rear deck, and a 10" sub in the trunk. I have a friend that does car audio install for a living and he will be helping me there.
So, there it is. Let me know what you all think about the setup, the car, or whatever else is on your mind.
Thanks for looking.

I'm wondering why you put the screen there. I'm thinking of buying an Altima, partly because that cubby looks custom designed to take a 7" screen, or to be replaced with the housing used for ones with Nav. Is there a reason you didn't go that way? Is it unworkable? I'd want to keep the stereo in place ideally.
Chris.

Its definately possible to go there. Someone on this board has a 2005 Alti and made a custom enclosure for it in the top cubby. I chose not to go that way because my PC will be taking the place of my headunit, and I didn't want to mess with all the custom work that is involved with putting the screen up top.
I would really reccommend a new Altima, I've never had a car that I like as much as this one, and thats why I'm dropping my money into making it a car that I will keep for a long time.

Cris: I am going to send my headrests and monitors to Altimat for the install. I want it done right and I don't have those kind of skills. Helps also that he has an Altima and I've seen the install he did with his monitors!
Desiz: Damn, I'm jealous!! One of these days...

Update
New Parts Ordered:
Linxcel Mini 4 Port USB Hub
Delorme Topo 5 USA
The 4 port hub is going to be installed into a panel in front of my gear shift below the storage compartment. This panel has the Hazard lights button on one side and a power adapter on the other. I got this hub because of the layout of the ports. I want two facing forward that I will be able to plug in devices to, and then two facing behind the dash to plug in the Slim DVD drive and whatever else I need plugged in.
I ordered Topo 5 because I like the look of it. I bought it from Sears so if I don't like it I can return it within 30 days for a refund.
Thats all for now. Still need to get some speakers and start installing everything.

Update: 04/17/2005
Today I got the USB ports attached the front dash panel in front of the gear shift. Its a 4 port hub with 2 forward and 2 rear facing. The rear ones will hide the keyboard and CD/DVD drive usb cables, the fronts will be used for the jump drive, and whatever else I need them for.
Heard from Altimat that the headrest monitor install is coming along nicely. Will start work on the Xenarc soon, and get my amp and speakers installed also.

Includes all the road maps just like anything else does, but the maps look way better with the 3D views. Just personal preference I guess.

Here is a better pic of the USB ports with the compartment. I'll be putting it back in the car later today.

Thanks. Both are Llumar tints, I just went to a local shop with a good reputation. They had samples of everything up on the walls. I would have liked to go 15% all around, but laws here prohibit any tint on the front windows and so I went with 28% because you can still kinda see through it and the police aren't as strict as if they can't see anything through the glass.
