Hehehe busy with the computer itself, I only did one layer (almost two on some places) but I plan to give a boost on tomorrow so I can take it out of the car and continue outside ! It's really less pain than I imagined (first fiberglass project) but damn it dries fast !!! And last time I did this layer it smelled fiberglass for 2weeks inthe car lol so you'll need your air freshener

These are the last pictures to show the install and how I fixed it to the upper part of the trunk. It's pretty heavy; it's been here for 2 weeks and didn't move a piece. And I can remove it if I need too, and there are no drill holes
the last pic shows the "closed" casing. From a normal viewing angle, you can't notice there is something there ! You have to bend yourself a bit and because it's all black carpet, it blends nicely !

Heat??
New to the Carputer scene and I like the install. I see most people mounting them in the trunk. I live in Atlanta, Ga. and I'm concerned about the extreme heat in the trunk. Any reason not to be concerned?

Well here I am in Quebec, Canada and the temperature is really, really changing all year long. It can be as cold as -40F in winter (-40C) and as hot as 100F in summer (38C). Right now we are around 25-30celsius (around 86F) and everything is fine. I'll add one or two more fans to insure a good airflow though. I couldn't put the computer under front seats because I'm afraid melted snow can go there in winter

wow, I woulda never thought to put the carputer there
are you going to just put the fans on the left and right? I was really worried about heat especially in the trunk, but I guess the four fans I have is enough... haven't had any problems and we've had pretty consistent 90F weather down here in FL.

Yeah one extracting fan and one pushing fan
Again, the good thing about this location is that I lose almost no space The bad thing is I had to bought longer cables for the monitor (usb+vga)... but it's already past now
Oh and yes I'll attach the wires going out from the computer (red power wire that goes to my distribution block, ACC and ground wires, and my mouse that goes through the backseats that I used for testing )

The idea no I don't mind
But the computer yes I mind !!
I also bought recently a rearview cam that is working pretty nice but I don't know where to install it as my main concern is not to alter the car !

Like bulgogi777 said, never thought of that place, nice creativity.
Great work, keep up the good work and glad to see another corolla owner.

Fritz, I was rolling that idea around in my head, and I found a possible problem. What happens when you hit a bump/speed bump. It seems like the whole carputer deck will fly into the air and then hit harsh back into place. Have you noticed that?

well the end near the rear seats is well bolted in place (really solid), the hard drive side too, is well bolted and solid. the only place that could "fly" is the middle bolt (between the Psu and Motherboard) but it could easily be fixed. And the whole kit is heavy so I don't think it could move, but I'll try applying vertical pressure to it, to see if it moves !
Thanks cause I never thought of that before.

I figured that the end near the seats must have been bolted somewhere, somehow. Honestly, I would throw a large washer and nut on the underside of that hole, keep it nice and solid.

I'm back after a little while with some progress on the fiberglass fabrication. Today, I did the second and the third layer of fiberglass (of the first half). I was able to take it out of the trunk couple of hours later.
Here are the results (this is my first fiberglass project!!!)
