Thanks random!
Wow. A couple of days in and I am loving this rig.
The hardware works perfectly, everytime. I'm really happy with the Opus, as it does what it's supposed to, nicely. Yeah, you CAN wire the rig directly to the battery, but I'd cringe in fear everytime it started up, and all my gear would probably last 1/3 as long.
Now it's all about software. There was a lot I couldn't do on the desktop, so now I'm all about making all the proggies behave desirably. Basically, everytime I get in the car I make 1 tweak, and so far they've all been steps forward.
Big Projects include: finishing my Saab MFD skin, using IGMod (a waaay excellent program that take IG to the next level) & learning it's secrets, and general WinXP tweaks.
The best Idea I had was using the second USB port (first is for TS) as an extension into the cabin. So I get in my car, plug in my USB key (or USB wireless network device) and transfer some files & overwrite the old files.
Completion by piecemeal patching.
But, as of today, I'm running XM & IG in my own RR skin. That's a far cry from a week ago when I didn't have XM at all, and IG was a standalone program with an annoying nag screen & tiny streets.
I've decided that when my skin is complete & troublefree, I may call this a done deal.
