2003 Cavalier - First Carputer - Planning and Gathering
Ive got a 2003 cavalier and Im going to install my first carputer, here's some pictures on what I plan to do!
Im taking out the stock stereo putting in a new panel with 2 usb connectors, a power on/off switch and my cd/dvd rom drive. Im mounting the touchscreen on the visor and running the cable along the left top side.

Custom fabricating my console to mount my mobo and other parts in there and running the cables under the console up to the dash.
Do you guys think this setup will work?

I was going to take pictures last night but the lighting was horrible and my camera phone pictures came out horrible, so I I'll take some today. Update news, aquired an AMP, and 2 subs working on putting them in, cut out my console to fit my mobo and my disk drive/usb ports. Still working on a way to power my carputer with the PSU I have, might have to just break down and buy an Opus Does an Opus require a 12 volt regulator, or does it do that its self?

Watch for high temps.
I take it that the computer itself is going behind the gear stick??
Just a caution, is the exhaust which sometimes runs next to the tail shaft near there insulated, as it would get dam hot, in my RX7, temps of 50C + isn't uncommon, worse on a hot day.
I would have thought that there is lots of room behind the glove box, and easier to keep cool with modding the aircon.
waiting for updates.

Ya its going to be inside of my console, and for the heat problem, im running a tube from my AC down into the console box where the computer is. I think that's what you were asking?

Looks like you want to do nearly the same thing as me with you center dash.
Are you planning on fabricating the plastic to go around the DVD player, usb hub, and button?

one thing to keep in mind about that A/c vent is when you use the heat....a lot of people think that the A/C vent is an easy fix, until someone bring heaters into the equation!
glad to see you decided to mount hte screen in the center of the dash, it's a much easier location to work with and allows more room (those screens can get fairly hot)
looks like a pretty good install thus far!

Alllright, I got my Speakers and Subs Hooked up to my amp and now have my carputer Mounted in my console. But I need a fusetap for the Control Line on the amp, Ive looked at all the Car Audio/Car Parts stores around here and checked ebay, anyone got any sites that sell Fusetaps for the Smaller fuses? OR have any ideas on a way to make one?
