basically what i've got started is a modified version of one of my other rr skins, and I'm working out the system of the different menus, I'm eliminating some combos:
example: Audio Top, Video Bottom
due to conflicts with which audio to play.

And some of the screens need to be named specific things like picviewer.skin, skin_browser.skin, etc, so that applications and things dock well.
I'm going to make a matrix of the different screens and start getting it all together.

The first version will not be the best looking graphically, but once the functionality is worked out, I'll work on the graphic side of it.

Glad there is still interest from people even though I haven't posted in ages. I got back from my New Zealand trip today and things should be getting back to the norm soon. Im going to rethink the LCD/computer component mounting i think. I have a free room in the house to work the delicate LCD dismantling etc, so ill get into that soon. I think ive reached the hardest part of this upgrade with the dash mounting of everything, din mounting, carputer and LED mounting etc.

Ill post some progress over the next few weeks.

Comming in late here but:

Ever hear the term "white light"?
A full spectrum of light apears white. If you see the white it means all of the spectrum is being reflected from the source.

White is the best choice for the "reflector" becuse the color white doesn't absorb any of the light spectrum.

The aluminum is essentially silver, which absorbs a portion of the light spectrum to give it it's silver color.

Black makes the worst because it absorbs all of the light spectrum.

Now if you want to focus light, a mirror finish works quite well because it puts light on a point.

It's just the way light works.

Cheers

I couldn't agree more. The dash portion has really slowed me, too. It's just that there's a cycle of engineering, re-engineering, design, re-design that goes on to get the finished product to be what we wanted. I've made so many changes to what I originally thought I'd do . . . and I'm still not as far along as I'd like. Then there are the related bits we finished that don't work as well as we'd like, and have to be redone, too; in my case, it's the PC mount.

We feel your pain, BiGGy, but we're cheering for you . . .

yeah, the begining in the ideas stage it sounds wonderful, half way in it looks like it's moving along, but the closer it gets to being something the higher the dificulty curve ramps up.... many more make it to the 70% stage than those that make it to 100%....

good luck with this, I'd love to see it done
