2006 Civic Si keep it stock looking? or outrageous

OK i got delivery of my new Civic Si, it been 3 months of waiting and its finally here... OK lets rip it apart, HA HA HA... here it is all new and untouched with the stock radio...

Name: 130_3060.jpg
Views: 2560
Size: 137.4 KB

I already have the bezel of the USA civic with nav. it cost me $40 cnd. I'm planning on a stock look with a flip in screen to revel some gages(boost and such(soon, I hope)) PTZ(pan tilt zoom) night vision cameras in the front and rear GPS, WiFi ect... . Here is a pic of my old civic that was for sale on ebay sold for $7000

so can some one please give post a pic of how much space is behind the dash and where i can possibly put a carputer, the trunk is out of the question because of the massive subs I'm planning and the dash looks very long and hollow(well,.. looks hollow) and i need to know if there is a spot big enough for a small full size or do i have to go with a full-fledged carputer, i have a relay strong converter that i got for free i was thinking of putting that in and running it off that, what do you guys think???

Ah, you finally got it! I see you found a dash piece too. Suprisingly, as big and deep as the dash looks it really doesn't have much room behind it. I can post some pics for you. It is ridiculously easy to pop the whole dash apart (and put back together again). In case you haven't seen how. Remove the two screws on the panel under the steering wheel, pop that piece off. Then there is one screwe in the main dash piece around the steering wheel on the left side take that out, and the rest is pulling it off. Don't be skiddish, it takes some force, you just gotta lay em up there. Then pop the center dash out there are like 7 or 8 clips in all around it. Then you can do some realtime, 3D exploration.

How do you like the car?

you need atleast 20x20cm gap, and a firm place to mount.

screen selection

ok you might thing that im madd but i might be going for a 10" touchscreen, WOOO HOOO HELL YA..., i mean im thinking about it. if i put in a 7" than there will be a rim of about 1/2" on either side and they dont make a good widescreen 8" that i like so i was thinking of the dynamix 10.2" flipdown screen

I should have described it better, the pannel on the left is one that i bought from honda for $40, and the one with the cardboard is me doing a to-scale test to see if i can fit it, the last pic is of a GPS/VHF antenna. from a volvo truck, he he he.(the only reason im using it is because it didnt cost me a thing)

i mean yes umm.... i made that... all by me self ... ok no i didn't

oh i see. I wish i could do that for my car. DC5 Type-r's come with a screen so i could use the bezel but the right hand drive would make it backwards =(.

its going to look very close only im using a 10.2" screen not a 7" and I'm going to try to elimiate all the buttons. aswell as im going to try to recess the screen so that its facing me flat/dead on.

did you install that pannel into you car, if so dose the screen dim from the angle?

Reffering to the title of this thread, I'd say you should keep it outrageously simple...
