Hey Vlad!
Quick question for ya (and I'll shoot you an email too but figured it'd be good info for this thread anyway).
The Morex case you pickedu p came with a PSU that you replaced with your M2-ATX, and that PSU was powered from a 12V@5A power brick external (at least this is how my brand new Morex 2699 case came).
What I'm curious about is the wiring that goes from the 12V socket on the back of the case over to where the old PSU was. The connector doesn't match up to the M2, but that's fine I can cut that. What I'm worried about is the wiring gauge. The included PSU is 60 or 80W. The M2 is 160W and I think may pull up to 15A. Did you replace the power wiring inside the PC? I was hoping to re-use the wiring and socket so it would be easy to power (via the external brick) in the house. Let me go take some pics to show what I'm talking about
:
You can see in the top pic to the right, there's a standard 12V power socket which I'd like to continue to use both in-car and out of car with the brick (pictured second). However the brick only puts out 12V@5A, so I figure the wiring there may not be up to snuff to be fused at 15A. It looks to be either 16AWG or 18AWG. According to
http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm, 18AWG *should* be fine for up to 16A, and with a fuse at 15, I *should* really never pull much more than 11-12A max - though with an M10K, slim CD, and 3.5" drive, I don't really expect to pull more than 80W on average. The math seems to point to "go-for-it" but I was hoping for confirmation. Thanks!
