Haha, got a big ol' box just full of screws, stand offs, paper washer thingies, etc. Figured I'll put them to good use temporarily until I can build something a little more solid for my "real" motherboard.

I'll be interested to see how you move those HVAC controls.

To be honest with you, so will I. The cables for the temp nob and register select are short *** cables. I dunno wtf I'm gonna do yet, but I have to figure it out quick, it's gettin' hot.

The Fusion Brain is a neat tech way to go, but it means your computer has to be operating even for the shortest trips, just to kick in the a/c. In Florida, I want that a/c going the instant I'm in the car, and I imagine New Mexico is similar -- although not quite as humid.
If they're standard push-pull cables, you might check at the auto parts store and see if they have an application that uses longer ones. Full-size pickups use way long cables for that. Auto boneyards might have 'em really cheap, but the price difference may not be worth having a used one fail too soon. And it's hot out there in the boneyard, too.

Yeah, I'm now actually looking at a couple of linear actuators instead. Some with built on potentiometers so it can provide feedback to the fusion brain. It'll be a while before I get my brain I think, so I have time to ponder a solution...
Yeah, the humidity around here is almost non-existent. And I like that. I stayed a week in Florida, man that was hard to get used to. It was like getting hit in the face with a wet towel every time I stepped outside.

Know the feeling I lived there for 10 years. Humidity was terrible. Sad thing is the humidity can get just as bad here.
Maybe you could make a "box" that controls your HVAC, but hooks up to your computer. That way on short trips, or if the computer is down, you can still use the HVAC controls.

Because it takes a while for the air to clear with the windows open after ODY has entered the car.

Yeah, was looking to see if the Fusion Brain "remembers" the last settings and keeps them applied. As far as I can tell, I would have to set it up to remember the last settings for a day or so. I think that would keep me ok. I dunno, we'll just have to wait n see. Thats the way I understood it anyway. Will touch base with 2k1toaster here soon to see.
