Next Task

So, I've had a 4-Port USB 2.0 PCMCIA card for this install to up me from 2 to 6 usb ports. (I think it is this exact card locate HERE)

I recently acquired a Maxtor OneTouch III Mini (i.e., self contained USB HD) that I was hoping to plug into this PCMCIA USB hub (my on board ports are dedicated to Monitor Touchpad & GPS antenna).

NOTE: I have a USB WiFi plugged into this card and everything works peachy keen.

The card powered the usb HD just fine but does not seem to recognize a drive is connected. Anyone have any experience with this? I was going to do the typica "search for new hardware" through windows, but somehow I doubt its gonna work.

Maybe because I never installed any kind of drivers for the usb card?

Man i've got a rats nest of wires....

its a usb powered drive, connected to the USB PCMCIA card. It is drawing power fine, just not being detected by the computer.

Fiddled around with some stuff.
The USB cord for the Touchscreen works find when calibrated into the USB PCMCIA card, which left a proper USB port open on the laptop for the USB HD. problems solved.

Added a D-Link USB Bluetooth dongle into the mix for future mouse/keyboard/cellphone support.

Get your Hd working yet?

If not be sure to go into your HD manager ( right click my computer - Manage)

Goto disk drives and initialize it. Most drives are unpartitioned and uninitiated when they come out of box and u need to go and partition it before using it. hope that helps.

Edit: Also for screen setup, whats most likely happening is that your screen, like most Xenarcs are set to run at 800x480 and not a standard 800x600 res. This is why you seem to have a black inch on each side. What you will need to do is A) if you have an ati video card, use the catalyst control center to specify a custom resolution - 800-480 (widescreen) B) Download PowerStrip and force the resolution yourself C) tell your card/monitor to stretch the 800x600 to match your screen. C will give you a slightly distorted picture but will work

So, after months of no issues, I open the TC and when it foleds up it just keeps going back?!

The mounting screws inside the unit that screw into the sliding trey apparently broke/came unscrewed. Happened while I was driving

I've yet to take it apart but it'll have to be an easy fix or its probably junk.

Bought it NIB from forum member DK888 w/o receipt. Doubt Xenarc will fix it.

Anyone have any ideas?
