Here's the hatch with everything together and hidden. I picked up a sub and amp from the black firday deals last week for only $149.99. It adds the bass I'm looking for with out completely vibrating everything. I don't wannna be like laxplaya and put 10 layers of dynomat on my hatch door. I had 2 12" last year, 1 10" sounds better in the openess of the wagon. Plus everything inside vibrates. It's what us wrx owners have to give up for the performance. I'm sorry to say it's not G or bmw. I'm already planning out (in my mind) the fiberglass box I wanna put the sub in when the weather gets better here(next spring).

Here's the view from my normal driving position taken this morning. The steering wheel blocks the screen a little so I need to move my head over to see the entire thing. But viewing angles look good so far. Looks like glare might be a problem though.

The button holes didn't come out as well as I wanted. It's harder to push the buttons further down because there's more bondo around them (like the most important one, power) .

And here I've started to prep other stuff for paint, but I need to take a break from this project and really concentrate on my final project for school. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to pull off some laaaate night heroics to get it done. I think this is a good place to take a break for now. At least it's up and running, but still faaaar from being d.u.n. Any comments and suggestions are welcome. 'Til next time

Thanks for the kind words, Mugurg. It only looks good because like you, I took my time on it. Hopefully you have better luck fitting everything. Did you see that wrinkle?

Thanks for the compliment. I started this thread in hopes of helping other first-timers and those still gathering info.

The power cable is your standard 4 gauge amp kit power cable. One end is connected to the battery with an inline fuse a few inches down. Then it goes through the firewall (wrx's have a hole you can just pop out a plug) and down the side of the car. It goes under the rear seats, through a hole in the umbrella cubby I drilled and into the the distribution block. That's where I can tap for any needed 12volt power. Right now I have a 8 gauge power cable running to the sub amp and 16 gauge(I think) going to the cigarette outlets. If I wanted to add another amp, that's where the 12v would come from. I can take some more pics tomorrow when it's daylight out.

Sure i did saw the wrinkle... but, unlike you i have totally canceled the ashtray and the lighter.. That gave me the chance to install the damn 8.4". I am not a smoker anymore anyway...
The rest.. i am not in a hurry, i will take time and doing it right . The car it's fine meanwhile, i am working on a spare dashboard
Did you managed to fix all the buttons inside your ashtray?

Well, they're only temporarily in there for now. I have to stop working on the car to finish a project for school (instead of posting in this forum ). I'm trying to find nice/cool looking buttons and switches too, but not having much luck. I don't have access to such things. Not all of us are secret agents...LOL.

Not very much to see right now, it's just up and running (must..do...home..work...aaaarggg!!!). I did manage to get music through the hu with Justin's help, but wouldn't you know, that same night, I finally found my hu manual and it showed how to do that...LOL. All these years, I could have run my ipod, portable dvd, laptop... through the hu and didn't even know.
